Oh my God, Becky...

Y'know actually I like that we'll have another wide building on the skyline. keep in mind that this will be 90 degrees from the WaMu Center, so it won't add to it in that way.

So the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta is 554 feet high, 52 floors, and 1654 rooms, so that gives us a basis for the mass of this hotel, keeping in mind the height restriction is 500 feet. A little shorter, a little wider, and as it isn't being designedby John Portman, doubtful it'll have a 450 foot atrium, so maybe a little slimmer.

So far, representations of the tower have been pretty subtle, so the Megalophobics haven't been aroused yet. With some artsy rendering and expressing the stats in meters, maybe they won't figure it out until steel rises and the setting sun peers through and illuminates all its wide glory.

As long as it meets the land use code it won't be an issue. Variances are where public opinion can play a role. Of course many jobs go for small variances....

You're probably right - if it meets code without a lot of discussion, the "phobes" will just let it go.

Strange timing, but the P-I looks back at the Greyhound Station.
