Im not sure the country will really get anything by having this store opened. Seriously. They will finally come when we are ready. Economic wise.
this kind of thinking hobbles the country unnecessarily..I am not talking about only Apple vs foreign clothing companies, but more generally....the relaxing of the taxes (both customs and other taxes) to more realistic levels and streamlining of bureaucratic red-tape encourages trade and commerce overall (to the benefit of all sides)...the best examples of this more enlightening business thinking is in Singapore and Hong Kong...they minimize & streamline regs and place customs taxes & other levies (and practices) at more realistic levels....the result is higher trade and actually more commerce (and better collections and less corruption)....

for Apple specifically, I dont think we need a pure Apple store in Thailand at the moment (nor does Apple need one)..... there are many good official re-sellers here..... just got my MacBookPro Retina 13 at Silom Complex iStudio (and 27 inch Thunderbolt Display at Siam Paragon iStudio) and really happy with them and their staff .... I also used Apple.co.th to order my iPad Mini (monogrammed) and thrilled with it & use it all the time for work when not at work...(& they delivered fast super fast to my office)
