Seems that 2 floors have been added to each residential tower, taking them to 30F each.

Also expect announcements on the mall tenants, opening in Easter 2019

Fashion icon to launch uMhlanga Mall
DAILY NEWS / 8 AUGUST 2017, 07:00AM / BARBARA COLE

AN international fashion icon is going to launch the upmarket shopping mall at the R3.8billion Oceans uMhlanga development soon, mogul Vivian Reddy revealed.

The mall is already 80% let, with some big-name global brands, and Reddy and his team are about to tie up yet another international brand, he said.

The entire Oceans uMhlanga development - residential, the mall and the five-star Radisson Blu Hotel - is on track. Construction has started and the mall will be finished first in Easter 2019, he said.

Oceans uMhlanga is one of the property group’s flagship projects. Such is the demand for apartments in the project, that another 60 have recently been launched in two additional storeys , with 30% snapped up within 10 days.

Developer update - this one should be rising soon from that hole

Great news from the Oceans Umhlanga development Team - The main contractors have been awarded the very sought after development project and they will be on site by the end of August 2017 - following the preliminary site preparatory work already commenced. The piling is progressing at full pace on site and to date 685 piles have been installed.

Agreed. I am working on an article touch on this region.... after flying over this area last Friday I am convinced it will surpass Sandton “ Durban, the New Sandton.

Good luck with that. However I always hate the comparison to Sandton, when there are much better international examples to be compared to.

On an aside, with a sizable chunk of the investors in the Pearls and Oceans coming from the middle east, the luxury retail could be a big draw to increase tourist numbers from that area to a region that is welcoming to muslim tourists

For Umhlanga, surely Gold Coast, Miami etc. are better examples to look towards? Sandton is an inland business district which makes it a completely different beast to Umhlanga.

I think the whole idea of comparing Umhlanga (the actual Outlying Business District instead of the beach area) and Sandton is do to with the architecture of the buildings that are coming up and I would say these buildings highly resemble Santon but in terms of the Umhlanga Village and surrounding areas I would say the vibe and the building styles are much more like Miami and Gold Coast it also resembles Honolulu a bit.
