Mr D invades San Francisco

From I was a small todler watching Full House, to a laid back teen watching The Rock, one US city always seemed more attractive to me then the rest...

I'd like to welcome you to the city by the bay - San Francisco

San Francisco was the first city in the states I visited and 4 years later I just had to go again...

It's a city with character - it's not the typical cluster surrounded by endless sprawl, nor a carbon copy of a European city... It's a piece of history... it's a wild western town turned modern... it's the jewel of the west coast.. and it's a living proof that a US city does work without 10 lane highways and drive ins every 10 meters...

I love San Francisco.... it's not flawless, but it's pretty darn close... enjoy!

We looked at mountains until dawn, and then when dawn came, it was too pretty for me - there was pink and blue and gold, in the sky, and on icy places, brilliant pink and gold flashes, and the snow was colored too, and I said," Oh," and sighed; and each moment was more beautiful than the one before; and I said, " I love you, Momma." Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.

Oh mannn!!!

This thread is WONDERFUL heheh. San Francisco looks gorgeous under blue skies. I went there in a rainy/cloudy day and my impressions were completely different. So sad, I wish I had caught some days like this one. It looks way more beautiful. SF is a city full of things to do, from Canary Wharf, through Golden Gate bridge and also the magnificent downtown, yeah, very fancy downtown they've got.

The only thing I didn't like too much was Chinatown, which looked a bit too messy for me.

Finally, one doubt, where was this pic taken from:

From the Embarcadero? I can't recognize this area!

Yep there are, just not right in the city. Yet still San Francisco has freeways, and the Bay Area has its fair share of sprawl too. From the looks of it he just didn't visit the rest of the metro. Take a drive across the bridge, and head up 80, or go south of the city and you'll see plently of it like any other american city. San Francisco is a beautiful city no doubt, but come on it couldn't sprawl even if it wanted to. There is nor room being its only about 48-49 square miles, and there is water on three sides of it.
