We have a new design for Mother Theresa's memorial house. It was chosen on a new competition, that did not receive even nearly the publicity of the first one. The old project of Jorge Marum was shit I agree. But why would they choose it and award him, to finally decide it is not "fit" for the purpose

Also I wasn't able to find anything about the new project of Macedonian architect Vangel Bozhinovski , so who knows how that one looks like...

Quote:

I just saw it

My comment is:

Even the Portugese architect's was better
But it looks awfully familiar. I will try to find the pics I took at the previous exibition. Im sure I saw something very similar there.

Yep!

Here it is - the same ridiculous project... It will remain a mystery why did they announce a winner in the previous competition and payed the author, to then cancel that and carry on a secretive second competition in which an old design from the first one wins.

And how shitty it is - you can almost feel physical pain in your eyes. The whole thing is outrageous and ridiculous, but few things are really beyond belief:
The creative author added not only two little domes on the roof (which are a must lately), but also some kind of little pyramid. BTW those domes remind me so much of the red cross building, I bet this guy is the same one or some pittyful plagiator.
Outside is a little five point star shaped garden which is extremely weird if you think about the purpose of the object and Mother Teresa herself.
There will be an aquarium inside...
And finally the facade - the strawberry on the top of this concept. A large part of the facade will be painted in some bizarre pattern of fishes and birds "going towards each other". You can't really see how ridiculous this pattern is on the blurry pics I posted, but consider yourself lucky for that. The fish look like they came out of some child cartoon. Considering the aquarium and the facade, I think it is obvious this guy is obsessed with fish (in addition to his obsession with domes), but what the hell is the connection between fish and Mother Theresa???
Not to mention the whole incompatibility of the object with the surroundings, which is EXTREME.

I can understand how some deranged architect can come up with this kind of design, but how it would get to win is really beyond me. The whole thing with the second competition is very fishy indeed. The ministry of culture already screwed up with the theater. Unfortunately they have several more of these projects in the early stages. They might do a lot of damage.

Anyway here are two shitty pics I found. If somebody ever asks you to define kitsch, just show him these:

Omg that looks awful!
I don't know at what angle to look at it! Oh man...terrible mix of old architecture and new. Sorry to the designers, but it's really really ugly. Such a travesty i'm liking the other one by the Portuguese! They should have just left the glass tower, that would have looked better. And what the hell is up with that star
And that last picture with whatever light it is, looks like some science fiction teleporter lol

I'm almost positive that's the aquarium... Fucking retards.

I still can't come to terms how something like this can win. It looks like something from Samarkand for god's sake. And it is supposed to honor a nun

That's what I cannot understand.
Where in all of Mother Theresa's life, did they find inspiration to come up with that?

Municipality of Aerodrom is to build a new administrative building. The location is the intersection between boulevards Jane Sandanski and Srbija, in front of the post office.

If we presume that the actual bulding will look much better than the render as it was in most cases before we're looking at a nice 11 floor building on a suitable location.

A small picture from Utrinski about the small building on the main square 'Lumiks', the exterior has been completed

It's worth 3.5million euro's and now the interior is going to be dealt with, however long that will take!

And Ljubljana was nice enough to donate to Skopje 25 000 euro's for fire fighting equipment

And while of no real significance to Skopje, the municipality Aerodrom is going to build 3 drinking fountains here

hmmmm I really like the above small corner building, what is the purpose of it though?

It almost for some reason reminds me of Federation Square here but on a much smaller scale and perhaps less sharp hehe, but yeah for some reason it does.

and to Ljubljana

You're right shyes it is a bit similar with architecture alternativeness, and they're both on squares I forgot what purpose it will serve...i think some technological centre or something?

Yeah it's really cool NB, it's that new type of modern architecture that isn't trying to be something way out there (like the Mother Theresa building).

I don't know what to think of it to be honest yet, it looks like the artist tried to fuse to many things together, but not sure if they really go that well, but I hope it turns out good. We'll see how it goes.

Whats going on with the Alexander Statue in Skopje, anyone know anything.
