Kenya has great athletes, but lets be frank, it's not in ANY way capable of pulling off the Olympics. no offence.

Kenya has better chances for 2028 or 2032. Let's not forget that their olympic bid is part of the "Vision 2030" plan, when they hope to reach a developed nation status.

More accurately, Kenya has great athletes in one sport: track.

Rome could bid again to host 2024 Olympics, says CONI. Mr. Malago says that unexpected events can still happen.

Rome may yet be in the running to host the 2024 Olympic games, the head of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) said Wednesday. Giovanni Malago suggested that anything is possible, including another shot for the Italian capital at hosting the Olympics. For example, no one predicted the recent silver medal win by swimmer Federica Pellegrini at the World Swimming Championships, said Malago. "I did not expect the silver from Federica...but when she said 'I'm going', I realized that anything might happen," Malago explained in an interview with Italy's leading sports newspaper, Gazzetta dello Sport. Pellegrini – who said she had not planned to defend her 200m world title won in 2009 and 2011 - ended a 12-month sabbatical to take second at the Barcelona championships. Similarly, with the right support, Italy could also surprise many by hosting the Olympics, suggested Malago.

Italy's dreams of hosting the 2020 Olympics were dashed in February 2012 by then-premier Mario Monti who suggested that Italy, which all of its debts and serious economic problems, could not afford such an expensive venture. "I had to take a difficult decision (to reject) a magnificent project, and there was a lot of disappointment," Monti told the European Parliament at the time. "But I have the impression that public opinion has understood (why I did so)," he added. Monti did not give the bid his required endorsement, citing financial risks at a time when crisis-hit Italy was enduring tough austerity measures. However, Malago suggested things have since changed, and that Finance Minister Fabrizio Saccomanni has said hosting such an events could be possible. There would have to be "attention on the expenditure side," added Malago. He hinted that he also has support from Regional Affairs Minister Graziano Delrio who also has cabinet responsibilities for sport.

France will bid only if Tokyo wins the 2020 Games owing to the alternation of continents. Turkey being on two continents, I don't know what Paris will decide if Istanbul is awarded the Summer Games. Though, if Madrid wins, then Paris will postpone its possible 2024 bid to 2028. We'll see on 7 september...

I hope Tokyo wins for 2020, and I support these countries for 2024:
America: USA
Europe: Italy
Africa: Kenya
Oceania: Australia

...Considering that Kenya should make giant strides... and Australia hosted in 2000... and I don't want to be a person who votes for its country, my vote goes to the glorious and beautiful Italy.

I hope Instambul wins.. Then the US would have a better chance of winning the 2024 edition.

I think I'd like to see a return to North America in 2024. It will have been 28 years since the last games there.

Maybe, but since the last summer games in North America were a joke, I don't see why the games should return there anytime soon.

Yeah there was a bombing wasn't there? Not great at all but I assume these days they think about these things a lot more than they used to.

I wouldn't go as far as to call it a joke. Even if it was, how is that a reflection on Toronto, Mexico City, etc?

No, I was talking about USA, not Mexico, Canada etc. I should had made it clear in my previous post. I would like to see the games in Mexico again, actually.

Mexico City is not planning on bidding for the 2024 Games and Monterrey doesn't have that international appeal as most US/Canadian cities have. The real contenders for North America for 2024 are NYC?, LA?, SF? and Toronto..
