IMO shows what a massive hub with immense connections can do for demand and capturing the market. FRA and the LH network is above and beyond what WK provides via ZRH and hell, even BA from LGW.

On the brightside, CM and PTY is looking to be finally on the up.

With Copa's good numbers, I hope we can see them going daily during their peak season. Loads seem to be the best during Summer and December.

July numbers are out. Kind of an odd month since alot of carriers saw decreases in passenger numbers yet the 6.29% growth vs July 2016 is pretty significant. Alaska, BA, AA, Copa, Edelweiss, and Jetblue all saw decreases but the WN and UA increases were fairly large. Also, domestic % increase was greater than international, which might be a first in recent months IIRC. http://www.tampaairport.com/sites/de...THMKTSHARE.pdf

I'm putting together some some INTL LF % numbers, but off of first glance for the most part they all seem to be doing well. Posting results soon.

Sadly WestJet isn't bringing back their seasonal Halifax service, leaving AC as the sole provider in the market. It's honestly not too surprising due to the fact the flights were only full in March/April and less then half full Dec-Feb. This is definitely a route I envision coming back. St Johns looks to be only 4 flights in April this season. I'm pretty sure it ran into May last season.

I highly suggest checking out TPA's latest Facebook live video. They chat with TPA's air service director. He mentions that he will be meeting with Avianca soon in Bogota.

LH:299.7 AVG passengers to FRA..wiki lists the Cityline A343 as 298 seats, so this AVG LF is basically 100%, which seems high.
BA: 254 AVG passengers to LGW: 90% LF
CM:121.1 AVG passengers to PTY (LF hard to gauge as mix fleet type and seat config.)
WK:276.2 AVG passengers to ZRH 87% LF on the 13 flights on the A333
DL: 137.2 AVG passengers to CUN 92% LF on 5 flights on the MD-88
3M:23.42 AVG passengers 69% AVG LF to NAS, MHH
WN:164.8 AVG passengers 94% LF to HAV
AS:156.7 AVG passengers to SEA
KX: 88.1 AVG passengers to GCM...mix of 733 and 738 and LF could range from 47-72%. But fares on this route are always high, so yield is most likely good.
EA: 138.4 AVG passengers on their Cuba charter flights to HAV and HOG...85% LF

From the TPA video, didn't get to much out of it, but snagged a couple tidbits. One, Kenneth seems like a very smart and knowledgable guy, it was fun to listen to him talk about air service development.

As for the flights, seems like Thomas Cook rumors have basis, he only mentioned them for UK service and specifically MAN. Didn't mention VS, LHR, Thomson, etc.

Norwegian to CDG seems to have some basis as well.

I don't see AMS, not KLM or DL.

They really seem to want DUB and LIM.

Avianica and BOG and MEX and the 3 airlines he mentioned seem closer rather than farther away.

I think the Icelandair flight will be a true showcase either for or against INTL service into TPA. If the route does well, it will show other airlines the market that is TPA. Likewise, if it falters additional airlines or INTL markets will be a bit harder to capture.

New Spirit Route!
Daily TPA-MSY service. About time WN got some competition to MSY. Their fares to MSY are outrageous. Service begins November 9th.

I wouldn't be surprised if WOW Air pursues Tampa instead of Icelandair (even though it is a LCC), with Reykjavik being used as a transit hub between N America and Europe. That airline recently announced that it will further expand service in the US, with new routes to Detroit (from April 2018), Cleveland, Cincinnati, and St. Louis (from May 2018).

But TPA is already getting Icelandair and it launches in just under 2 weeks.

Most likely will be operated with a 75W. Hopefully you get the special Aurora Borealis livery aircraft too.

Yeah it's on a 752W and yes it's been confirmed we are getting the Aurora livery for the inaugural flight on September 6th.

WOW Air could still be a possibility, if Icelandair proves to be successful. Their fares from the states to Iceland aren't bad at all and it's only a couple hundred more to fly to London or Paris.

It's a shame that much of South America's dipped back into a recession. I was imagining the possibilities of Tampa being a North American hub for much of the flights coming from Sγo Paulo and Beunos Aires.

It's possible. WOW Air announced CLE days after Icelandair announced CLE, which makes two KEF routes out of CLE, which didn't have any recent TATL service.

I would think though they would try the Orlando market first before TPA, but can't rule it out.
