Nagole and Uppal stations seems to be almost 90% complete from outside, rest of them too are in quite advanced stages. Should be done by year end I guess.

The complete viaduct complete across Y Junction looks good. Kukatpally and maybe Balnagar/Moospaet stations are slower. Miyapur, JNTU & KPHB stations look at an advanced stage.

The Last picture is an interesting design of the viaduct.. Anyone knows why it was designed that way for/purpose?

That span was casted on the spot. It is because the gap between pillars is great.

This viaduct is to cross the Y-junction. While construction at junctions L&T closes the signals and motorists have to take first free left then U-turn to get to right. Also at junctions, construction is not pre-cast instead on the spot

More about construction at junctions (from an old article)

Quote:
Simultaneously at all the junctions:

There are 12 such junctions in corridor 1, 7 in corridor 2 and 9 in corridor 3. In order to facilitate free flow of traffic in these junctions, the gap between two pillars has been extended. Normally there is a gap of 112 feet between two pillars but a gap of 190 feet has to be maintained between the pillars near the junctions. This is a challenge for the engineers. Also instead of using a pre-casting method for construction, the engineers are adopting spot construction techniques in these areas. Bridges were constructed in the same way in Uppal and Habsiguda. The on the spot construction would require a time period of four months while the pre-casting method takes only about 4 days time.

Viaduct has been precast at this junction. The reason for the arch is because they planned for a future line from Y junction to Paradise via Balanagar, bowenpally.....so regular design wouldn't have worked and also both the lines would have to be connected.

This had come in the newspapers while this junction was in construction.

ISKCON nod a major boost for Metro Rail

The Hindu
Quote:
While the suspense continues about the probable alignment changes on the Metro Rail corridors, a significant breakthrough has been achieved in providing the right of way at a key site. The ISKCON temple authorities have agreed to allow the overhead viaduct across their property without affecting their two main structures.

Senior Metro Rail officials, declining to be identified, indicated that a broad agreement was reached with the temple authorities to permit construction in 18 metre wide corridor inside, on crossing Sangeet crossroads junction. A sum of close to six crore rupees is to be paid as compensation for acquiring 6,000 sq.yards of the land.

It comes as a shot in the arm for the beleaguered Metro Rail officials as the issue was hanging fire over the last couple of years and had become a major bottleneck on corridor three – Nagole – Shilparamam - Raidurg route. Apparently, patient negotiations with the property owners concerned and the Government’s support has ensured some recalcitrant cases to come around.

Senior officials are now quietly confident of acquiring parts of a prominent club in Begumpet too.

“Over the years we have managed to take over more than 1,000 properties along with old Gandhi Hospital land and defence properties through persuasion and attractive compensation package,” they point out.

Court cases

Still about 500 properties including 281 key ones have to be acquired. Some of these also come under Urban Land Ceiling Act and Government Vested Municipal (GVMs) properties – listed as Government lands on official records. Thus far, 156 GVMs have been acquired while 100 more are left.

Significant number of remaining GVMs are on the Greenlands-Jubilee Hills route (4.5 km), also on corridor three. Only a few piers or pillars of viaduct of 117 planned have come up on this stretch due to a court case by the affected persons. The HC has already heard both parties and final judgement is awaited.

No Word from Government on Metro Realignment, Says L and T
HYDERABAD: L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd on Saturday reiterated that it has not received any official communication from the Telangana government regarding the proposed changes in the alignment of Metro Rail project in Hyderabad.

NVS Reddy, manging director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, talking to the media here on Saturday said, “We are still waiting for an official communication from the Telangana government regarding the changes in alignment. We can disclose the details of additional expenses due to the changes and further plans only after the formal talks with the state government”.

When asked whether VB Gadgil, chief executive, L&T Metro Rail, has rejected the government’s proposal, Reddy said, “We never said that we have rejected it. The decision is yet to be taken. The cost would go up if the changes are made and we have to prepare a report of the additional cost”, Reddy explained.

L&T is discussing the issue with its stakeholders and an expert committee consisting of 21 members.
