On hold, yes, but only while the club redirects funding to the development of the training ground (I believe). As soon as the cash is available Phase 2 will go on, I understand, even if the club are in the Championship. Wolves have the fans for it and they want to sustain the current ambitition. I, for one, expect within 5 years we'll see Phase 2 complete.

Not forgetting the 55 executive homes they want to build. Yep, mustn't forget those.

That's correct the official reason phase 2 has been postponed is that funds have had to be redirected into upgrading the training facilities to meet the new FA Academy standard.

Upgrading the training facilities at the current site is complicated because it involves relocating a whole school to a site further south. The club basically had a very small window of opportunity to push ahead with the plans or the school would use their "Building Schools for the Future" funds to renovate their current building - meaning Wolves would never get an Academy on this site.

Current layout with school.

The executive housing is very controversial with Wolves fans as the club's owner (Steve Morgan) also owns Redrow - the company building the houses.
"stick your $$$$in houses up your $$$$!!" was the chant when we were 0-3 down to Liverpool.

From what I can make out it all seems above board. The money made from the houses will partially offset the cost of rebuilding the school. He's calling it an enabling development. The council would presumably have withheld planning permission if there was anything dodgy going on.

the lack of continuity gives me a headache. Adding on to a stadium is where the Euros need to get advice from the American Stadium builders in the College game, because when we add on to our stadiums, we make sure it fits. This looks like they mixed an Erector set with Kinex.

Well, Old Trafford was built in various stages, and you don't appear to have an issue with that:

Molineux will look fine once Steve Morgan has the balls to get on with the Phase 2 and 3, oh, and 4.

Continuity, my arse. The last thing Wolves needs is advice from planners of American college stadiums.

It looks odd because it's a different colour - or it lacks colour to be exact. The seat colour issue will be taken care of, and I guess the view from above isn't so important.

If all the stands were sans roof, like US college stadiums, it wouldn't jar in any way.

Just a reminder in case you missed it.
The stadium is now nearing the end of phase 1 in a four phase redevelopment.
This is what the stadium will hopefully look like after phase 3 is complete.

It's not a case of "adding on". Every stand will be completely rebuilt significantly closer to the pitch. IF (and that's a big if) it all goes to plan, the four phases will be completed over maybe 10 years.
The stadium will remain open and in use for all of this time on the same spot it has stood for 123 years.

Aesthetics may be be somewhat compromised during this time, but it's unavoidable if we've gonna get the stadium we want

Lets hope so.

If they can resist doing phase 3 until the UK relaxes laws on safe standing Molineux will be immense.

Don't forget the seat colour as you see it now is temporary.

These will change to gold and black.

This is only part 1 of 4 so no need to worry about asthetics till time of completion for the whole project.

Phase 4 would have to accommodate 22 thousand seats in 1 stand so we will see a bit of a difference from the bowl type which should they get to that stage be very intriguing indeed.

And yes standing would help bring back some kind of atmosphere in english ground. Sensible ways to do it now aday germany is proof. If every stadium was aloud 1 stand/ section of their ground standing on a maybe 2 people standing to every current seat would be awesome

Would also like them the fans that sing most often in one area of the ground to maybe boost atmosphere that way

The current Billy Wright stand holds around 9k so would have to be replaced with a monster 21k-22k stand to take Molineux up to 50k.

We'd have to either be in Europe or be a World Cup City to justify 50k. Neither occurrences look likely at the moment.

Of course a new Billy Wright Stand would spread into the NW and SW corners so wouldn't need to be that much higher than the other 3 sides.

as explained by Boldteddy. BW already holds 8,700.

There are rumours of putting a singing section into Molineux but to be honest we already have one. just be nice if we were allowed to place banners in areas and stand. etc.

7,700 NB stand
7,700 SB stand
13,000 St.B stand
21-22,000 BW stand

Although technically around 3,200 seats would be accomodated linking the corners so around 19k-20k.
