What with the Embassy and Apple anchoring the area i imagine the areas could attract more office occupiers, which might come in handy for those who want to reduce their exposure to resindential sales. More commericial tennants would do wonders for day time activity and retail and leiure sales.

The glass box being built to obscure the view on that side is absolutely criminal in my book.

Hopefully that's the flats and Brexit trashes the value of them. Solely my opinion, but this is the final sign that the whole property industry in London has just gone absolutely insane. Hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it.

I didn't expect this development to infuriate me so much. I didn't like (but kinda ignored, I suppose) the renders. But this is gentrification at its most extreme and vile. This can't be what London turns into

It is outrageous. You have to ask yourself what the hell is the point in a Grade II* Listing when this can be allowed to happen.

It's not even as though the proposals have any redeeming characteristics through their architectural merit. The Foster's buildings just simply do not belong in London.

Better than years of indecision, inaction, and deterioration.

What would you have preferred? Without being able to build on the rest of the site, no developer would take on renovating the power station. It would still be a slowly falling down eyesore.

Yep the £1billion being spent just on the power station would magically have appeared from all those moaners who put the kaboosh on any redevelopment here for decades.

It is only going to get worse as well. Battersea Power Station is going to be swamped.

However, as what london lad and SunnyCoast have said, the density and height is required to make the project financially viable.

I would rather see the building restored, than eventually crumbling and falling down.

This is not gentrification... this is taking a unused/crumbling site and turning it into somewhere people may actually want to live.

I don't think we should excuse a badly designed masterplan simply for the reason that without it the project would have never happened. This first phase is truly awful massing and anyone who has been recently along in the train couldn't have noticed how the apartments with their relentless glass facades are not being used as the architects intended them to be with the winter gardens being used as storage for clutter (because the apartments are too small).

All of this development is maximum profit at any cost, a slice of the supersized Far East dumped around a London icon with trendy branding in the name of 'regeneration'. Vinoly has sadly failed again.

I noticed after bonfire night that the road that passes the south end and round the West side to the river is now open to the public and you can get a good view of the workings inside the power station from there.
