Those station signs are atrocious...

It's like they spend all that money and then put up a scaffold and tape some red cardboard letters to it.

And Even worse by mixing up Chinese and English lately (for the English Sign cases), for example: Changed Beijing South to Beijing-nan or Hangzhou East to Hangzhou-dong

They meant to force foreigners to learn Chinese Pinyin or something?

I agree that's a faulty part of design. I guess they just want to make it more visible at night (when neon light is on).

Hefei South is so much like Nanjing South, quite conventional design yet quite big and sleek.

Nanjing-Wuhan HSR as of now. There are Hefei South to Shanghai/Ningbo/Wenzhou "G" trains available now.

In the future it'll connect with Bengbu-Hefei HSRs and planned Shangqiu-Hefei-Hangzhou HSR. It'll also be the starting station of U/C Hefei-Fuzhou HSR.

Is there any map of the existing railways in Hefei, and where Hefei and Hefei South stations are relative to central city?

I don't think it's part of the design but rather a unified add-on by the officials of the ministry of railways.

Makes sense since the characters look so protruding from the original design.

I added English to below map. It's a bit old so some information may not be up-to-date.

It would look much more aesthetic if the sign is an integral part of the original design just like Suzhou Station.

During night, I really like the floating characters. During the day the "skeleton" behind them look ugly. They should design nicer frames but as I wrote, they look rather good during night.

NanNing East Railway Station to Be Used on Dec. 26

Quote:
The terminal building of the station is basically finished for its debut on Dec. 26 and the west end of the seamless transportation system connecting the station and other transportation means will also be ready at that time for the convenience of passengers.

With the total floor area of over 260,000 m2, 30 railways and 13 platforms, the East Railway Station is composed of 3 yards of Liunan, Nanguang and Nanqin from north to south. The terminal building is divided into the elevated level, the ground level and the underground level. The elevated level is for departure where different vehicles can drop off passengers and where passengers can buy tickets. The ground level, or the platform level of the same height as the square in front of the station, is for passengers to get on or off trains. Passengers go to the underground level after arrival through stairways or elevators where they can leave the station by taking bus, taxi, subway or personal car.

I was a bit confused looking at this photo of Nanning East station, but it looks like Zhuang is a Chinese language that is written using Latin characters, just like Vietnamese.

...a written script which is hardly ever used by the Zhuang...
