MOSCOW: 'Spindle', new cable-stayed near International Business Center

The new bridge will connect Moscow IBC with new city freeway, running along Kutuzov avenue. As main span curves along Moscow River, the pier, supporting it with 16 cables, is designed to be tilted at 10°. An observation deck at the middle of the pier will work as counterweight for main span.

The new bridge will became a second cable-stayed in Moscow after almost completed Picturesque bridge.

technical data:
type of the bridge: cable-stayed, pier is tilted at 10°
total length: >300 m
main span: ~150 m
main pier height: 160 m
design: Nikolai Shumakov, Metrigiprotrans
construction: 2009-2011

Look at the pier and you will catch why we named this bridge a "spindle"

Future environment. The bridge is drafted at backgroud to the right of crown-shaped building:
