No problem....btw don't be too harsh on your country, Accra roads just started seeing some improvements.

Thika road in Kenya has a bigger foot print and is considerably larger and more elaborate than it's Ghanaian counterpart so I guess to some extent, it's understandable that aesthetics may have been sacrificed, though not completely, for functionality and quality. Even though the N1 Highway in Accra does look comparitevely neater, Thika road is picturerisque in it's own right.

Is there adequate signage on this freeway? All the images I've seen so far do not show any signage.

As long as there are sidewalks on the highway, people are going to continue to cross to the other side. Who builds sidewalks on a freeway? There should be absolutely no communication between pedestrians and the road all the way through. Highways are the preserve of vehicles and that’s that! Those sidewalks should be eliminated immediately and replaced with 10 foot high walls to prevent further unnecessary loss of life. No sidewalks means no pedestrians on the roads boarding and and alighting commercial vehicles or crossing to the other side. It’s very simple logic!.....But, sigh! my people will always find a way to render these measures obsolete!

Thanks Niireo, Really not sure what you were implying with those images of the N1 highway but I'll still take a shot; There are still long stretches of highway with sidewalks. Those foot bridges are few and far in- between so the pedestrians still cross the highway and in the 2nd image in the Flickr link, those walls were created to allow for grade sepertation w hen that very short stretch of highway was droppedso in effect, they are acting like retaining walls and not noise or pedestrian barriers.

Personally, I think the pedestrian problem would have been solved if the the highway was elevated over Mallam and other heavily populated areas.

Those pics or at least some of them look like the new N1 Highway.
Is the Ofankor-Achimota highway the new road that travels North-South from tetteh Quarshie through Legon, past Madina and beyond?
Somebody help me!!

Thanks for clearing the air on that one Niireo. Makes much more sense to me now. I had no clue about the Ofankor-Achimota road.
