Lookin foward to seeing this thing built. It's a big hole in teh skyline that needs filling. Love it or hate it, at least the BIG tower isn't dull. It's a tower that is going to break the mold of the ordinary, that's for sure.

A new design would be nice. I would like a spiral tower here.

This was an excellent news video & interview & look on the whole WTC site.. But yeah, there is something seriously wrong with Silverstein's eyes..

Site is owned by the Port Authority. If I remember, they're trying to sort out with the Lower Manhattan Development Corp or the city or something, what should be built on that site, i.e. offices, or hotel/residential. The PA has publicly stated they want out of the real estate game, after the huge cost overruns at the WTC, so I would expect a decision on what can be built on site, then the PA markets and sells the site, then we see action.

No way. I've worked as a bike messenger for a decade and can always tell where the action is flowing. -- Since 1 WTC's completion and world financial's transition to Brookfield place, Downtown has become the fashion hub of the city. It's insane how many corporate offices have fled the rockefeller center area for the complex. Many downtown office buildings from the 60s-70s era are also transitioning to residential with all the commercial space opening up at the trade center. It's a very interesting redistribution of space, these past few years.

I've noticed the large increase of residential buildings in the Financial District area and conversion of office buildings into residential ones. Even Wall Street itself is filled with residential buildings. It also seems to be trying to rebrand itself from a place of just work and offices into a place to shop and dine. It's still not quite a place to really go out though. But is it growing from a business perspective?

Yeah, you nailed it. They're in the middle of some kind of small renaissance, but most of the financial district is still a ghost town during late night. I doubt it'll ever really get to that level socially, but business-wise it's definitely on the upswing. -- I have a feeling Hudson Yards will change the game though and take a lot of that momentum back toward midtown when the site's completed.

Foster vs Big? foster the safest design. I think they'll go Big however.
