High there! As you may have noticed through today's banner we opened up an official Skyscraper Dictionary with the main ambition to be a fun place to create awareness for skyscraper related details and overlooked phenomenons. If you don't name them, you just might not be aware of their existance.
This project is linked to the member database of the forums so all here should be able to comment on terms and postings, make suggestions or add images and detailes but since this is a first time project, please apologize any hickups.
New terms will be added weekly, hope you all enjoy this. Feedback always welcome!
Just added the biztrict. Hope you don't mind me changing the -ss into a -z as that looks a bit better I think, plus biz is the more used abbreviated version of business.
I don't mind! I am arleady very pleased my suggestion is added.
I do like the Défensism as a term also actually, as it can refer to the fact that biztricts are a result of defending / protecting the historical city centre.
Yeah, problem with Défensism is that in the English spoken world it refers too much to the noun defense, plus that an -ism is really a set of values, which the development of a business district is not. Biztrict is perfectly fine I guess. Thanks again for suggesting.
How would you call a small penthouse structure on the top of a skyscraper (probably not planned initially and added during construction to increase height, or added post-completion)?
Like this:
The google translated version of the wikipedia page tells me that skyscraper has been closed because of structural issues.
In 2007 the building was officially closed to the public because the foundation of the building is not standing upright and tilted a few degrees and are considered dangerous to the safety of building occupants.
In the meantime: stacking suburbia into a skyscraper. Introducing the homestacker
