I am not sure about hundial, rather don't remember. Temple has a children park adjacent to it. It is located amidst of tea estate. Vehicles are not allowed near the temple & one has to walk 1/2 kilometer to reach the temple. But it's worth to take the walk enjoying scenic beauty all along...
Photos should not be taken inside the premises.

Devikulam - I heard but did not go. We went to Eachanari temple in Pollachi main road....another famous vinayagar temple like pillayar patti.

Valparai is a place where greenery is untouched, this place is surrounded by falls, dams, forest etc (Chnnakallar - the second highest rainfall area in India, not sure - some say it is agumbe in Karnataka) ...mother earth in her epitome of beauty...

Normally in Balaji temple they wont get any "Kanikkai". Yes you have to walk some half a km to reach the temple..

You can see the complete view of Azhiyar dam from a view point called Loam's view.. It is in Valparai road.

Chinnakallar and Kadambarai receives more rain.. They are Often called as TN's Chirapunji.. We have a place called Grass Hills in valparai.. It is full of grasses and entry is retricted to this particular place..

Focus on Ooty hill train safety urged

On May 1, one of the coaches of the train derailed amidst the wooded track near Hillgroove station en route to Mettupalayam. Luckily, all the 200-odd passengers were safe

In the recent past, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) train, a world heritage site, has been hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons as the steam locomotives, hauling this tourist attraction, have often been affected by technical snags and stopped midway through the journey.
Hill train lovers are concerned over the safety of NMR as the derailments — twice in six weeks — are worrying.

They have appealed to the railways to focus more on safety.

On March 19, the locomotive derailed minutes after it started its journey at Coonoor station.

^^This is in Kerala, the 'Pathimoonu Kannara Palam' in Kollam district.

BTW during winter, there would not be much greenery. Infact the topography gets dried up after the 'Thula Varsham' (north east monsoon). which comes in October. So by the winter months of december, january, it would be dry. It would be lush green again by June when the 'Idavapathi' (South Western Monsoon) comes.

180 more tourist autos soon
May 8, 2011 , Deccan Chronicle

Tourist-friendly autos, a campaign to promote auto drivers as tourism ambassadors and be courteous to the domestic and foreign tourists, has evoked good response prompting officials to launch 180 more autos shortly.

“There has been an increasing demand among auto drivers and tourists for more such autos, from various parts of the state, giving positive indications to the popularity of this scheme,” a senior official of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) said.

Speaking to this correspondent on Saturday he said about 145 tourist friendly autos would be introduced Chennai besides 15 in the temple town of Kancheepuram and 20 in the world renowned heritage site of Mahabalipuram, soon.

“Ours is the only state in the country which has been implementing this unique scheme successfully and Tamil Nadu is likely to be a role model to Gujarat which recently introduced this concept,” he added.

It was introduced in Chennai on a pilot project basis in December 2007, and over 249 auto rickshaws are plying in various parts of the state. Chennai has 113, Kanyakumari: 18, Rameswaram: 43, Courtallam: 16, Madurai: 7, Tiruchi and Thanjavur: 26 each.

The TTDC has been receiving requests from auto drivers from several parts of the state and the requests have been forwarded to the state transport and home departments for verification of their antecedents and final approval.

“Only after both the departments authenticate the drivers’ credentials, we ahead and include them in our scheme,” the official said and added the verification was essential to weed out those with criminal background.

Has anyone tried these autos ....

Regards,
Subbu
