I feel likewise, this is awful and very sad news. Downfallen/Darren was a highly talented photographer and skyscraper enthusiast whose extraordinary and legendary architectural images rank amongst the finest, not only on this forum but are up there with the very best. RIP.

Very sad - I really enjoyed reading his posts and seeing pictures from his explorations. Rest in peace.

RIP.

Hardly post at all on the London forums but read them all the time and loved his photos.

As someone else mentioned - they were certainly art.

RIP Downfallen - I've always loved what you do

is there somewhere on this forum (or elsewhere on the web) that contains a range of his photos that we can view? Ive had a quick search on google but can only find the odd photo or two.

thanks.

RIP DOWNFALLEN...

OMG,I just heard the news...

At first I thought it was a bad joke, but unfortunately this is the sad reality...

Downfallen was such a fantastic contributor to the forums,I'm pretty new on here but I can say that I'll deeply miss his world class pics & interesting comments. As far as I'm concerned,I didn't have the chance of meeting him but from what I've read,he appeared to be a very nice & clever young man indeed...

His job was so amazing, but also so risky(further to his gobsmacking pictures, some of us had reminded him to be "careful" lately on the "Heron Tower" thread...) I love his pics so much that I regularly use them as a wallpaper, besides the one I currently have is that of the "Gherkin" and "Tower 42" with "Strata" in the background...

At least,he passed away by doing what he loved the most...
He will be dearly missed on here.

Gone too soon...My condolences go to his girlfriend, his family & friends.

Repose en paix Downfallen or Darren should I say, thank you so much for everything you've brought us,you'll be remembered dude, that's for sure...

This is very sad news indeed. Downfallen was clearly a talented and gutsy individual and he will be missed.

Very sad news. I never had the chance to meet him though I suspect it would have only been a matter of time. I did communicate with him by messages on the 28dayslater website, and he was instrumental in helping me get to where I am now in terms of urban exploration. I knew him as a truly genuine, friendly, supportive, helpful, honest and humble man. Let's remember him for the great man he was and by the truly outstanding pictures he has left us. Let's also reflect on the fact we should never take anything for granted, life above all else but also friendships. Let's appreciate the moment, savour all the incredible experiences we share, and cherish what we have, while we have it. And let's drink, in large amounts, to the passing of a true hero.

Funny how someone you've never met and only know through images can come to mean such a lot to you. His photos were only one part of his art for me. Imagining his efforts to get the image was the other part. He was a covert performance artist. A figure akin to a comic book super-hero. His early death only magnifies the sense of him occupying this realm above the work-a-day world of the streets. Things won't be the same without the beauty and surprise of his latest images.

His family and friends should be proud of what he did. The naysayers were only ever a tiny minority.

Wherever he his, may he fly high for ever.
