Yes, I know there is no access. Just take of one section of retractable seating.

What would one gain? This stadium doesn't need an facade, its structure is very beautiful and elegant. There's no need to shoehorn a facade into everything.

Were you working simultaneously on #sdc3 and this one or you`re so quick you made it in one week?

I made it in a week it's a simple design so a week is long enough also I admit I actually made 2 and a 1/2 other stadiums during sdc (I was learning how to use 3D seats and rendering)

Next project: CAPITAL stadium! (Canberra, Australia)

Maybe instead of rushing into another project each week yoo could try to figure out how many details you can put into your designs? It`s not the first time you had an interesting idea but with higher level of details your artworks could look more realistic and as another #sdc voting shows, it still matters for many voters.

I completely agree

I currently have a 3 week holiday so I'm keen to get some designs done. After the holiday I'll definitely be slowing down and experimenting with details like concourses, hand rails, roof structures and other things that I can think of Also rendering and post render processing will be a big focus before the next sdc. Hopefully then i can bring the cup to the Southern Hemisphere

So keep your eyes out on the presentations thread

I want to try to design a new football stadium for my favourite club. But, I've never done it before. So my question is: how do you start with it? Do you make a draft before you design it on your computer? And what are the minimum specs that your computer need for design and render a stadium with 35,000+ seats at best quality?

Just get started. Download Sketchup, watch a view basic Sketchup tutorials and go from there. You'll get better all the time automatically.

As for computer specs: If you want really really detailed stadiums, Sketchup requires a hell of a lot CPU power. However, much depends on how well you model your stadium. If you maximize the use of components and manage layers effectively you might well be able to model a stadium with over 100.000 seats, whereas you might struggle to model something with 15.000 seats if your model is not well organized.

key to success are groups and components.
it was hard for me to learn not to think in lines and faces but groups and components.
For me it's a construction and destruction process:
construction: basic bowl design
destruction: make changes, e.g. add vomitories, add press & media, space for benches, vip boxes, etc...

my basic setup for layers is:
field
lower tier
boxes
upper tier
roof structure
roof
facade
concourse
details
seats

you can download a lot of stadium models from the warehouse, and study what kind of techniques we are using.
Somewhere in the thread you'll find some tutorials (from mattic?), very helpful for a basic understanding.

New computer, new Sketchup, new project. What is a good and free rendering software for newest sketchup?
