It has a form of an egg with a picture in center - a basic idea of
Faberge egg.

See, the stadium has a hole in the roof, just like egg has a portret on it

The plan guarantees that US$11.7 billion will be invested in the region between 2006 and 2014. Approximately 60% of this budget will come from public funding, with a remaining amount comprising a mix of private funds.

Dont just look at the number of seats, that stadium would have the capability to host a great olympicsevent. Of course infrastructure is important to.

Davidkunz:

Exaggerated? No way, modern, even futuristic. I guess they will use it for track and field events and training after the olympics, which will probably stimulate their athleticsinterest and youthtraining with teh facilities.

Isnt this a summerproposal, oh well i just understood, why a track/field stadium for a winterolympics? (maybe for snowboarding, i reckon the sport will grow til then)

With all those global warming, Antartica or Greenland seem to be more potential candidate for the Winter Olympics in the future

It looks like a squished, flattened Faberge egg.

Me too.

I've been following major events since 2001 -- have never got it wrong so far (Beijing, Vancouver, London and now Sochi).

Sochi was the best choice.

Salzburg-- amazing city, just not Olympic material. The next Olympics in the Alps will be Munich I think, in either 2018 or 2022.

Will the design of this stadium change sometime before the Olympics or will it stay the same?
