If i remember well, there is indeed an air zone for helicopters near the airport which spotters or simple tourists can pay to have a ride.

Delta to help fund L.A. terminal project

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Delta Air Lines will put $12 million toward a $229 million project to overhaul a major terminal at Los Angeles International Airport.

Atlanta-based Delta is joining the city of L.A. and Los Angeles World Airports in funding the Terminal 5 project, which should be completed in 2015. The project is part of a $4.1-billion plan to modernize LAX. The largest part of the Terminal 5 cost will be borne by LAWA, the city’s airport oversight and operations department, but $25 million will come from the Transportation Security Administration.

GPA Architects

Last month, Delta announced plans to increase service at LAX with daily year-round and seasonal service to 14 destinations. Delta said it will operate 118 peak-day departures from Los Angeles to 40 nonstop destinations, including Sydney and Tokyo. The airline also operates transcontinental flights between L.A. and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport seven times daily.

Isn't there a PII to the TBIT expansion?

I recall seeing in the original press releases for this expansion a second terminal west from the newly constructed TBIT? Does anyone know if this will be actually constructed? Also, will LAX ever get a inter-terminal people mover?

LAX

Council OKs moving LAX runway as part of $4.76-billion upgrade

Quote:
The ongoing modernization of Los Angeles International Airport gained momentum Tuesday when the City Council approved $4.76 billion in additional improvements, including a controversial plan to move the northernmost runway closer to homes in Westchester and Playa del Rey.

The vote was a defeat for airport activists and community organizations that have fought to halt the runway project, which they charge would lead to an expansion of the nation's sixth-busiest airport and increase air pollution, noise and traffic congestion in their neighborhoods.

From what I see it looks like all the gates are capable to handle the A380.

They have China Southern, Singapore Airlines, Air France, Korean Air, Qantas fly in there now with their A380s. Emirates and British Airways starts A380 routes later this year. They have seven airlines at the end of the year that use A380s on their routes and the new terminal is suppose to be open by then.

LAX to spend $4 billion on capital improvements.

Quote:
Los Angeles International Airport officials want to spend roughly $4 billion on capital improvements starting in fiscal year 2014 and lasting until fiscal year 2018. What does all that money buy? Los Angeles World Airports published a list last week, tucked inside a report to the Board of Airport Commissioners. The largest chunk of money (almost $2.5 billion) is going to improve terminals — everything from restroom upgrades to passenger boarding bridges. Other money will go to runway and taxilane improvements.

Nice video and pictures. Saw a video saying that terminal 4 (American) will be getting a badly needed upgrade. Does anyone know about this?

Interesting, you could be right, but I haven't heard about American. I know that Terminal 1 (Southwest) and Terminal 5 (Delta) are being renovated, with the recently completed renovations of Terminal 6 (Alaska) and TBIT (Bradley West). It would be great if American got overhauled though.

I've asked the question once or twice before without any luck in getting an answer. With the extended spacing between the concourse will the need to tow aircraft into bay be eliminated at Tom Bradley International Terminal?!?

Probably not on the side of the terminal where the new taxi way is. The side where the older terminals will depend on the size of the aircraft parking there to unload and load. We will probably see smaller international aircraft on the side of the terminal next to the older terminal. I haven't seen any maps or anything where each airline is planning on parking yet.
