Yes, I know.
But it is the "second front door of the Mediterranean", a sea of mostly European.
In addition standards and data growth channel, you can deduct the input and output (ie import and export) of traffic in the Mediterranean.

Indirectly, then, got to do in the debate.

Europe depends almost entirely on the sea for its foreign trade
June 21, 2010

Europe economic de ¬ dependent almost entirely from the sea: 90% of its external trade and 40% of the inner half takes place using the ship. Are over 1,200 commercial ports located along the coasts of the EU countries and many other airports are located along its waterways. The operation of ports is provided by about half a million people.
One area of maritime transport, which has affected much of the international economic crisis had a decrease of '8.5% of the volume in the first half of 2009. Estimates are seen as very reliable provided by Brussels is expected to resume growth in volume of traffic at a rapid pace since the second half of the decade.
This implies that in a few years in infrastructure, including ports, connections to the back ¬ ground and the field of naviga ¬ tion, will move about a third more traffic than today. At the same time providing a sustained increase in passenger traffic. The demand for international freight and then claim a remarkable degree of technological change, especially as regards the handling of containers inside the port, but also coordinates the establishment of networks between the port and stakeholders and to port activities.

COMPANY 'TO COMPLETE ACQUISITION OF FERRIES DFDS Norfolkline
June 22, 2010

The European Commission gave the final green light to the acquisition of Norfolkline, a company of Danish group AP Moller - Maersk, by the ferry company DFDS. The transaction value is $ 496 million. The AP Moller - Maersk maintains a strategic share of 31% by DFDS. The only condition set by the European Commission is that the two companies to end the charter agreement existing routes Esbjerg - Immingham - Harwich between Britain and Denmark. The original agreement would have started a virtual monopoly on the route. But with the waiver by the two companies' agreement, the acquisition will not pose any constraints to effective competition in the route. Replacing the previous agreement, DFDS has signed a new agreement with Stena Line, which must now be ratified by the Commission. The integration between DFDS and Norfolkline should be completed by the end of 2012. At the top of the company remains the chief executive officer Niels Smedegaard.

Text after using Google Translate:

Quote:
Polish airports they want rights, such as those in force in the West

Owners of vessels (especially container), and the owners of the goods will land in Germany or the Netherlands than in Poland. There, in fact incur less cost. For this, inter alia, because of "our" biggest container port of Hamburg has become.

Representatives of Polish ports for years are seeking to change the rules. I recently took yet another attempt by sending a special letter to Polish Prime Minister. They complain, amongst other the Ministry of Finance. In particular, value added tax.

- Application rates of 22 percent in Poland and 0 per cent in other EU countries makes the Polish sea ports to become uncompetitive in Europe. Our ports are working only at 30 to 50 percent of its power - in a letter written by representatives of ports, ship owners, the Association of Towns and Municipalities of the Sea.

How many additional jobs and tax zloty CIT and PIT would arrive, if we were working conditions such as in the German ports? - Ask. - Is it normal that the Gdansk and Szczecin affect the checked cleared the ship product in Antwerp or Hamburg? There is no longer in the fleet of commercial vessels plying the seas under the Polish flag. Suppressed deep-sea fisheries. Liquidated shipbuilding industry. Is now the turn of the Polish sea ports?

- In Poland, similar provisions should apply as in the western ports - says Cpt. desired. St. George Uziębło, Secretary General of the National Maritime Board. - A lot of losing, because in the West to pay the tax is more time - two months, or even 90 days. The fee that a taxpayer can regulate so only after having sold the goods, or if it will have money. And it comes with a huge amount ...

- Tax Inequality is one of the reasons for our failure to compete with the ports of Western Europe - Notes Witold Wacławik-Narbutt, expert, member of the board of the Pomeranian Cluster Sea and the Vistula River catchment. - Another reason is unnecessary rivalry between Polish ports, for example in the Tri-City. Abroad, they can even cooperate with each other ports located in other countries. Examples include Malmo in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark.
