Still compared to the Jeddah Tower, this one is just racing to the top.

I am travelling to China in late October this year for a holiday. Will make a brief stop in Wuhan on the way to Shenzhen to take some photos of the tower.

I will arrive in Wuhan at 2:20pm at Tianhe airport which is approx. 32km from the city, and need to be back at the airport at 6:45pm to catch a flight to Shenzhen.

Is there enough time (~1 hour) to head into the city and take some photos from the opposite shore? I am planning to take a taxi to and from the airport.

I wish I was you lol that's so cool you get to go to two different cities that have supertall buildings. But it sounds like u have 4 hours to burn I'm pretty sure if you use Google maps you could find out the quickest way to get to the construction site and back to the airport in time to catch your flight

I would not suggest you doing that. It's really far and we are talking about one of the biggest cities in china, traffic is a pain in such cities, it's not like you are there in the middle of the night.

If you're arriving in Wuhan from outside China, i.e., need to clear immigration, I'd say it's very risky. If you're arriving domestic, assuming you have no lugguage to pick up, and assuming the flight is not delayed, you might just have enough time, but it'll still be risky! You'd want to be at the airport an hour before departure (assuming you're already checked in), just in case there is a long queue at security. You'll also want to make sure there is a cab to take you back to the airport. Good luck!

almost mission impossible
why not stay in Wuhan for one night and take a bullet train to Shenzhen the next day. or just wait till the tower is totally finished

Definitely not impossible
I lived in Wuhan for one year. It's not that far actually. I think it takes about 40 Minutes to get from the airport to the opposite shore.
If you decide to do it, make sure to tell the taxi driver to wait for you. It can be really hard sometimes to catch a cab in the city center.
Edit: Also Wuhan's airport is not that busy. So arriving there one hour before the flight should be enough.

I actually want to take photos from the opposite shore. Since it might be hard to catch a cab back to the airport I will probably give it a miss Pollution could be hit or miss too.

I'm sure if you have a phone number for a local cab you can get to your location and back to the airport in time to catch your flight like I said just Google it im sure they will give you some information unless Google is illegal in China?
