Official from Avianca

Source: https://www.facebook.com/AviancaFanPage

EN: "Avianca informs that, in the process of getting related with the new international terminal at Eldorado International Airport, completed in recent days, the AV059 Avianca flight from Panama City, with arrival in Bogota at 12:32 PM, was chosen to arrive for 27 days - from 20 September to 16 October - to that terminal.
*
For the convenience of travelers upon arrival in the new terminal, our team of contributors will be attentive to guide them during their process of immigration, baggage claim, national and international connections as well as exiting the new terminal
*
We hope that this becomes a positive travel experience.

Thank you for choosing us!".

--> In other words, the AV059 will be the only flight to arrive at the new terminal, from Thursday 20th of September to Tuesday 16th of October, one day before the inauguration.

I don't know if it's a good idea to make the flight test with such a small aircraft (an A319), with only one airline and with all flights incoming, none leaving from the new building.

In any case it is good news. Hopefully these 27 days of testing with this flight will be successful and opening day will take place as scheduled, on Wednesday 17th of October.

Pictures from the first incoming flight to the new terminal (AV059 / PTY-BOG)!!!

More pictures on the airport's Facebook page.

--> It's just very exciting to see these picture. A shame I can't use the new terminal in my incoming flight but nevertheless happy for Bogotá who deserves the best.

Fellow user HaroldM has been kind enough to bring us these pictures from the new terminal.

A big trial was done to test every single new device and space of the new building. 800 people, mostly relatives of OPAIN's (the contractor) workers, helped to make this simulation as well as Avianca workers.

Enjoy

According to this, American Airlines might be starting a new direct flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Bogota by next year.

Quote:
Fort Worth Star-Telegram: American signs codeshare agreements with LATAM

In a move to bolster its Latin America and South America presence, American Airlines announced on Monday that it has signed codeshare agreements with LATAM Group's TAM Airlines and LAN Colombia.

The Fort Worth-based carrier added that it will add a new Dallas/Fort Worth to Bogota, Colombia route in late 2013 and new service from Miami to Curitiba and Porto Alegre, Brazil.

"As we continue to expand our presence in Latin America, the new routes to Brazil and Colombia are a direct response to the increasing customer demand for travel between the U.S. and Latin America," said American's chief commercial officer Virasb Vahidi.

American previously had a codeshare agreement with LAN as the airline is part of its Oneworld alliance but did not have a codeshare agreement with TAM. LAN and TAM completed their merger to create LATAM earlier this year.
