I don't remember it having any other height but 291.6 meters, at least for a long time.

I suddenly feel like this thread should be called Shenzhen's Supertall List.

Why. Only 20-25% of the projects are in Shenzhen...

too be fair you also counted a lot of concept projects for Shenzhen and for other cities maybe not, like Guangzhou or Wuhan. But yes Shenzhen is dominating the list by a large margin

Shenzhen simply has by far the most supertalls built, UC and in prep - so why shouldn't it dominate the list? Many proposed projects are also further along the planning stages (or at least with more information released) than the ones in Guangzhou for example. We know that many huge developments are in the pipeline there too, but we don't have detailed plans with plot lists and heights even for developments that are partly in prep now (like IFC in Guangzhou that might have several supertalls).

Maybe create another thread for Shenzhen? Yes, it does dominates this list and I'm fine with it. But it would be nice for Shenzhen to have its own page where all we talk about is Shenzhen. Because right now, this thread is mostly about Shenzhen and lists the couple few pages.

To be honest, the deciders here on Skyscrapercity should think about to organize the supertall section (or the China section of this forum in general) like it is done on gaoloumi. First by regions and then by cities...

i don't like that idea, that makes updating only harder and it all gets confusing. if i want to see all buildings from one city i just use the search function with titles only, no need for making that the normal layout when searching is so fast.

Shenzhen has suddenly become everything what we have been expecting from China for years. It's not a vague long term process anymore, it's real already. And even what we see in those pictures is nothing compared to what is coming.

Right. All of a sudden competition with Shanghai doesn't seem so unreal anymore. If you look at things from a rational perspective Shenzhen is easily the best of the first tier cities in China. I'm not talking skyscrapers and cool sights but infrastructure in general, living quality, transport, proximity to Hong Kong (which is a HUGE advantage even if it is not part of the city itself). The current explosive boom of mega-constructions in Shenzhen is merely a result of the fundamental process that is taking place. I;m now so impatient to see Qianhai projects rising above the ground. If Qianhai suceeds Shenzhen will come to be a true global city.

I don't know much about living quality but for infrastructure , Shenzhen is the healthiest in mainland China. Mainly because there is still a massive demand there.

i will be in HK this weekend , hope i can see pingan from far away

I think it's not because of massive demand as such (how does that work?) but because it's a new and planned city. More space for adequate urban solutions such as road network, metro system, etc. Shenzhen is a breeze to get around compared to, say, Guangzhou (which isn't bad anyway!).
