Arrigoni Bridge - United States

The Arrigoni Bridge is a steel through arch bridge carrying Route 66 and Route 17 across the Connecticut River, connecting Middletown, Connecticut to Portland, Connecticut. When it opened in 1938, the 1,200 feet (370 m) bridge was the most expensive bridge ever built in Connecticut, at a cost of $3.5 million. Its two distinctive 600 feet (180 m) steel arches have the longest span length of any bridge in the state. The bridge has an average daily traffic of 33,600

It was named after state legislator Charles J. Arrigoni, who promoted the project. Arrigoni served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1933-1936 and in the Connecticut State Senate from 1937-1940.

The Rio Antirio Bridge

The Rio Antirio Bridge OR Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge OR Γέφυρα Ρίου-Αντιρρίου, Patras ,Greece

The Rio–Antirrio Bridge (Greek: Γέφυρα Ρίου-Αντιρρίου), officially the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge after the statesman who first envisaged it, is one of the world's longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and the longest of the fully suspended type. It crosses the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, linking the town of Rio on the Peloponnese peninsula to Antirrio on mainland Greece by road.

The bridge accommodates both pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic.

Its official name is the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge. Charilaos Trikoupis was a 19th century prime minister of Greece; he suggested the idea of building a bridge between Rio and Antirrio. The project was too expensive at the time, when Greece was trying to get a late start in the Industrial Revolution.

The Greek word gefyra (bridge) also refers to the Rio-Antirio bridge in informal everyday speech, originating from the domain name of the bridge's official internet site.

Bridge of the Americas OR Puente de las Américas OR Thatcher Ferry Bridge - Panama

The Bridge of the Americas (Spanish: Puente de las Américas; originally known as the Thatcher Ferry Bridge) is a road bridge in Panama, which spans the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. Completed in 1962, at a cost of US$20 million, it was the only non-swinging bridge (there are two other bridges, one at the Miraflores locks and one at the Gatun locks) connecting the north and south American land masses until the opening of the Centennial Bridge in 2004. The bridge was designed by Sverdrup & Parcel.

The bridge is a cantilever design where the suspended span is a tied arch. The bridge has a total length of 1,654 m (5,425 ft) in 14 spans, abutment to abutment. The main span measures 344 m (1,128 ft) and the tied arch (the center part of the main span) is 259 m (850 ft).[1] The highest point of the bridge is 117 m (384 ft) above mean sea level; the clearance under the main span is 61.3 m (201 ft) at high tide. Ships must cross under this bridge when traversing the canal, and are subject to this height restriction. (The Centennial Bridge is also a fixed obstacle, but its clearance is much higher: 80.0 m (262 ft)).

Crosses: Pacific approach to the Panama Canal
Locale: Balboa, Panama
Design: Steel through arch bridge John F. Beasly & Company
Total length: 1,654 m (5,425 ft)
Width: 10.4 m (34 ft)
Longest span: 344 m (1,128 ft)
Clearance below: 61.3 m (201 ft) at high tide
Opened: October 12, 1962
Daily traffic Statistics:35,000 (2004)
