Thread Renamed. To encourage more activity, this will be the new thread for all the airports in New York including New Jersey.

There is a proposed demolition of Terminal 3 to expand space for T4. Why can't Terminal 2 be torn down, also? T2 is the most boring terminal in JFK Airport.

There are also plans to tear down Terminal 6 to make way for a possible expansion of Terminal 5, but how is T5 going to be expanded? And I don't know about Terminal 7.

New York airports study expansion possibilities

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey says it is examining its options for easing congestion at its three major airports, since delays here ripple across the country.

July 8, 2011 1:05 p.m.

(AP) - Faced with too many planes and too little space, the agency that owns New York's airports wants to hear ideas on how to expand its runways and reduce flight delays.

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey says about one-third of flights through the John F. Kennedy International, Newark Liberty and LaGuardia airports were delayed or cancelled in 2009. Those delays ripple throughout the United States.

The Port Authority is now reviewing proposals for an 18-month study on the issue. The Federal Aviation Administration will pay part of the cost.

In January, a report by the Regional Plan Association recommended building an additional runway at either Newark Liberty or JFK. But it warned that construction at Kennedy might require filling in parts of the federally protected Jamaica Bay in Queens.

T3 is going to be demolished and T4 and T2 will be connected via skywalk.

T4 will undergo expansion.

T6 is currently being demolished to make way for a dedicated international T5 building for jet blue

was privileged to be part of a T4 tour at JFK yesterday...

took a couple of videos of Emirates A380... it landed during the afternoon hours (around 2:30pm); KE A380 around 11:30am, AF A380 landed around 3:30pm-ish...

i'll have more pics as soon as i'm done editing them... there was a certain plane (can't tell what) that we can't include in the photos...

Terminal 2 is now the smallest terminal in JFK Airport, so I still wish it were demolished so T1 can be connected to the new skywalk to T4 instead.

Terminal 4 Expansion... the B-Wing extension should be complete by May of 2013, IIRC... adding new baggage carousels, expanding the departure lounge with 6-feet wide glass floor, integrated security check, 300m+ concourse to connect with T3, etc...

cool rendering... i just hope the expansion of the main building will suffice because if that final plan comes to fruition, we're looking at more than 30 gates...
