Exclusive: Budget may chart NIIF funding of 4 projects
Ashutosh Kumar | February 09, 2016

New Delhi: In what could be a major push to infrastructure development, the Budget may chart the first batch of projects that will be funded by the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), which may include the Hyderabad metro rail, Konkan Railway and Jammu & Kashmir power project.

Sources told Bloomberg TV India the Budget 2016 may mention the projects and quantum of investment by the NIIF so that funding the infrastructure projects can start from FY17.

“The finance ministry is considering 4 projects for NIIF funding. To start with, NIIF may finance 4 projects worth Rs 30,000 crore in FY17,” an official said on condition of anonymity.

The four projects that are being considered are Larsen & Toubro's Rs 14,000-crore Hyderabad metro rail, Konkan Railways Rs 10,000-crore expansion and electrification, Sterlite Technology’s Rs 3,500 crore J&K power transmission project and Essel's Rs 4,000 crore BOT Ring Road project in Delhi.

On December 29, NIIF’s Governing Council, chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, drew up the broad road map for the fund. The Governing Council, which also comprises Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das, Financial Services Secretary Anjuly Chib Duggal, SBI chairperson Arundhati Bhattacharya, Hemendra Kothari and TV Mohandas Pai, also scanned through possible projects that may be taken-up under the NIIF.

India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL) is advising NIIF Ltd and IDBI Capital Market Services Ltd as advisor to NIIF Trustee Ltd initially.

NIIF is already in discussions with the sovereign wealth funds and pension funds from countries including UAE, Singapore, Russia and UK.

NIIF has been set up to push infrastructure development both greenfield and brownfield including stalled projects

Clicked some pics of the new sidewalk at Nagole metro station. Black and white tiles in Nagole, unlike the red and white tiles used in Uppal.

Apologies for the average quality, clicked from my Nexus 5.

Where is Divya Shakthi Apts.? Can you give the location on maps. Country Club will take long time imo, coming from Rasoolpura side you have 1 or 2 buildings (beside post office) just before the rly jump over which have to be demolished. And the jump over will be very complex as it will be over platform sheds, dont know if they will remove it or go directly over and if it is latter then it will be a long bridge and then a pillar in b/w the tracks will be necessary I think

Edit: 2-month old pic, view from Greenlands flyover twds B.pet, the building with red top is Country Club. If you look closely you can see a station pier just before it

Divya Shakthi Apts is near Park Hotel (Ameerpet) where they have built Metro piers towards Ameerpet Junction earlier.
https://www.google.com/maps/@17.4356.../data=!3m1!1e3

Google maps doesn't show any piers from Park Hotel area towards Begumpet...

Line-3 hurdle at Jubilee Hills checkpost cleared?

Metro land acquisition: HC rejects firm's plea

TOI
Quote:
HYDERABAD: Paving the way for metro rail to pass through the office of Transstroy India Ltd, spread over one lakh sqft, in Jubilee Hills in the city, Justice Vilas V Afzalpurkar of the Hyderabad High Court has declined to entertain any of the three main objections raised by the firm against acquiring a part of its property.

The judge pronounced his order after hearing the petition filed by Transstroy , which challenged the Telangana government's land acquisition notification.

The firm sought from court two things: either set aside the land acquisition notification or direct the authorities to acquire the entire property instead of a portion of it. The firm said by acquiring only a part of the property , the authorities would render the remaining part useless. It urged the court to direct the authorities to acquire the entire property as per the land acquisition Act, 2013. The judge, ho wever, after recording the assurance given by the state's advocate general K Ramakrishna Reddy , told the construction firm to apply to the authorities seeking the acquisition of the remaining part too. "You cannot stall the ongoing land acquisition with this reason," the judge said while disposing of the petition.

The judge brushed aside the company's allegations that the metro rail alignment was changed to save the interests of several influential and retired IAS officials. The judge said that "these fresh objections are being raised by the petitioner for the first time before the court when some of his earlier objections were rejected by the authorities".

The proceedings for the acquisition of this land began three years ago. "Merely because the gazette notification was delayed, it cannot be said that the authorities have erred in acquiring the land under the old land acquisition Act,"the judge said.

Big relief! Let us hope, Ameerpet (Rehmat Complex) and Sec-bad (Padma Hamsa Apts) issues also get resolved soon!

I am not that optimistic. If you look at the Google maps, the major intersection stations are far from completion. The Ameerpet station piers can't be seen at all. The station itself takes more than a year to complete. There are big gaps everywhere.
