GARUGA | Perl Marina

Garuga peninsular is set for a major facelift following a Shs2.25 trillion (USD900 million) investment that will turn it into a world-class marina facility. Sitting on 300 acres on the shores of Lake Victoria, the Garuga peninsular is in its advanced stages of becoming an upmarket tourist spot in Uganda.

Speaking on the sidelines of last week’s Commonwealth investment forum in Kampala, Mr Fred Murimi, the director of corporate affairs at Centum Investment company, said the firm will invest USD100 million (about Shs250 billion) in the first phase of the Pearl Marina project, to be situated on the shores of Lake Victoria.

The project expected to be completed in 10 yrz.

Project ground breaking happened last week. This is a nice development on the lake victoria shores and a huge boost to tourism in Uganda.

I'm guessing this project will follow hot on the heels of their two rivers project across the border.

This guy Garuga really has mountains of cash. I mean I'm even gobsmacked by that sum . What is it? US $900 m? Damn ! But at least his development projects will bring in employment opportunities and the tax dollars and also regeneration of the region.

Garuga is not a guy, its the name of the location. The cash comes from a consortium of companies like Centum Investments.
