I was driving along King George today, and noticed something new to King George Station..

Signage is up now, it looks like this project ( at least the Coast Capital building ) is about to begin.

Medical Office Tower
* I was thinking that if the second tower gets the green light, Surrey would be on Her way to a very nice Medical District. To bad that some of the other Surrey Medical Facility were built else where in the City.

Found 2 -3 major projects just getting underway. 2 of them are with in 1-2 blocks of the New City Hall & Library sites. I managed a shot of the BOSA sales center for the University District project which is set to begin excavation in March 2014 or so, 6 months or less and appears to be in the neighbour hood of 34 floors as well.

The sales office for the University District project is under construction now, just across the street from our new City Hall.

I'm hoping to continue to add new images here on a regular bases while more or less putting together a SURREY CONSTRUCTION image run down regardless of size ( other then detached homes, unless there is real merit to being shown) but a new subdivision would be welcomed of course.

Just please, no one post :

Only a block or 2 west of the U.D. ( University District Tower 32-34 FLOORS )
Waves crane is up FINALLY. It feels like we have been waiting for ever to get this off the ground, but its rolling now. Imagine what the City Center region of Surrey will look like by 2020...

I don't think Surrey will have a hope in Hell of catching Burnaby at this point in High Rise developments. With that being said, Surrey & Burnaby are very different when it comes to the projects each city is doing and the driving force behind those developments.
Burnaby Basks-In-The-Glow of Vancouver proper & there for can operate as a bedroom community to her big Brother. That is not taking away anything from Burnaby at all, don't get me wrong... In fact I may be moving to Burnaby sooner then later because I love the city and the vibe it has.

That being said, Surrey is standing on Her own, With New West Minster and Delta playing the roles of Surrey Satellite & bedroom community's.

While I agree that Burnaby is a suburb of Vancouver and Surrey is its own place (to become), I cannot agree that New Westminster plays the role of Surrey's bedroom/satellite community. New West pre-dates Surrey, Burnaby and Vancouver and is very much it's own place. It was planned and built in the late 19th and early 20th century and all its pieces are firmly in place. Once Surrey City Centre is built, residents will still cross the bridge for entertainment/shopping/dining in New West. If you are suggesting the opposite, I respectfully disagree.

Langley and North Delta are the suburbs of Surrey, not New West.

I agree with you Yellow Fever.

The world has many examples of an earlier established city being pushed into the Shadows by a younger more vibrant city. However I do not see that as the case here what so ever.
Now, as for New West Minster being a suburb of Surrey...that is a hard stretch to say the least.

The fact of the matter is though, Size ( Area and population ) are in Surry's favor quite easily. Political clout, civic & provincial are in Surreys favor as well. These are not victories for Surrey as I look at it. I do not consider Surrey and New West minster to be rivals with each other one way or another. New West Minster has done something that I cannot even put into words. The square footage of the city, is almost null, and to see what they have accomplished with in those confines is mind boggling. To me, N.W.M. literally seeps intellect and efficiency. Surrey has a lot of space & its evident in some of the disasters you can see though out the city. By disasters, I speak of architecturally and of course in our crime issue.

I don't want to seem like Im craping on Surrey, because Im not meaning to. It is one of only a handful of BIG engines that keep our province moving.
So I thought haw about a little comparison between the 2 ( not a full out City vs City because we all know what happens in those ).

For the last 5-6 months I have passed this sign over and over again, just like every one else. The sign showed a possible beautiful Project but very little more then a sign showing a promise.

Now, however there is a reason to be optimistic and a better vision to imagine in Surrey's ever changing and spreading City Center.

Now the real kicker, The original project ( in the sign ) has be re imagined to be 2 separate towers , as you will see below.

Holland Pointe will be built to support the City of Surrey's sustainability commitment and expects to receive a LEED rating.
The project will include a varied number of housing types, including single- and multi-family apartments and condo's, as well as a rich mix of retail suites, office areas and commercial spaces.

This would be right across from the new architecturally impressive Coast Capital Head Quarters. As great as these renders are, they seem to have left out the Sky Train line and all the other buildings in the back ground except the crappy hotel across the street that is being demolished as we speak. Aside from that, these would be amazing to see here so close to Park Place and the new Coast Capital building. The Park place project has put out something on their next project which I will post momentarily.

Thanks for the updates, quite a lot to take in! I'm not sure about the towers near the King George skytrain, but the Civic Plaza should be a great project.

EXISTING PARK PLACE IN SURREY CENTRAL CITY

The 3 Tower project that consists of 698 individual condo's & standing 36 floors per tower was completed in 2012

Talk of the next phase of construction was brought up often but never very concrete, until now...

SALES OFFICE OPENED JULY 2013
CONSTRUCTION BEGINS NOVEMBER 2013 WITH COMPLETION IN 2016
THIS NEW INFORMATION HAS BEEN CONFERMED TO ME IN PERSON
THE PIPE DREAM IS NOW COMING TO LIFE

The new towers will not be standing in the shadows of the prior development by any means. The Park Place Towers stand a beautiful 36 floor's & are the tallest in the Titanus City of Surrey. Their new sibling's will be more like Sentinels of the City center, standing a colossal 46 floors tall each.

The Park Ave. project is a piece of the larger King George Station conglomerate that will be a heavy contributor to Central City Surrey as it stands and in the Future. I had no idea that there was an actual " King George station " company, entity, conglomerate, corporation or what ever you want to call it. Funny what one finds when you dig only a few flakes below the surface isn't it.

Just thinking about what the City center of Surrey will look like in 5 years,
from 98A avenue ( south ) to 104 avenue ( north ).

I know I mention this often, but I am wondering if anyone can find the time to do a future render of Surrey, with the projects under construction & the ones beginning soon. It would be awesome to see what it is that we can expect to look forward to and a great way to show off the skill you posses to be able to put it together. Above and beyond that, I will owe you a big favor of some sort.
