Given that Victoria's Labour Party has indicated it would dump the East-West Link project if elected this November, should we be concerned about the federal Labour Party similarly dumping the Badgerys' Creek airport project if elected in 2016?

I would imagine the current government will try and have contacts signed before the election.

It also wouldn't surprise me if the Labor party indicate their hands are tied regardless so that the airport gets built, but Labor doesn't get any negative political repercussions.

I thin labor were too scared to build it for fear of it costing them government, but now they don't have it at a state or federal level, I'm inclined to think they will let it run with bipartisan support. Particularly if they can win the election without making it an issue.

some unofficial concepts designs - if this was china or singapore it would be fully operational by 2020
There are 4 pdf files at the end of the article with the proposals.

Western Sydney Airport concept designs open for public viewing, HASSELL and Cox Richardson lend a hand

24 October, 2014 architecture and design

Quote:
Four concepts for the future design of Western Sydney Airport are available for public voting, two of which have design input from HASSELL and Cox Richardson Architects.

The competition is being run by Consult Australia and aims to provoke a broader discussion about what the public wants from the new airport.

All concepts incorporate wider infrastructure initiatives planned for Greater Western Sydney and a common theme
is the synthesis of the airport with the government’s broader vision for the
region—large and sustained population, occupation and economic growth as well as improved cultural and social amenity.

Timelines for the proposals show three stages of development, beginning with an operable airport by 2025 (Stage 1),
followed by an expanded airport by 2035 (Stage 2)
and a 2050 completion (Stage 3).
