I believe Rushbond recently acquired that building (the bank and the separate offices above). The British Legion's current West/South Yorkshire County office is in Bramley, would they move into the city centre to a presumably more expensive office? Since I can't think of any *new* charity shops that have opened in Leeds in quite a while (in fact I remember the Oxfam on Duncan Street closing a couple of years back so this would only put the number of them back at a pre-recession level), one opening in a former bank isn't such a bad thing as that particular unit doesn't lend itself very well to other uses. Better than a payday loan firm opening in a former bank.

Besides, is Albion Street really in a state of decline? Joy are taking the old Urban Outfitters, the Next unit is a Next Clearance (so it's a Clearance store, butmore importantly it's not empty), Wasabi will be opening soon as will Lavazza, the Boots frontage will be finished in the Autumn along with the adjoining Trinity West entrance.

I agree; I'd say Albion Street is on its way up if anything. I mean, it would've been difficult for it to get much worse!

Happy Feet in The Light has closed down today a sign outside announces. Never went although that fish foot massage fad was certainly short lived. Has anyone been lined up to replace Happy Feet?

Couple of store closures:
- 'Xtras' on Commercial Street. This unit, along with the former o2 store next door, could be merged to make a larger flagship unit for prospective tenants according to the render in the window in o2.
- 'Appy Feet' in The Light. Health scares about the fish used pretty much killed this store off a year ago, but it had stuck it out for a while.

Not great losses, and I'd go as far to say the loss of Xtras is potentially a good thing. It had a horrible frontage.

One of those sad shops that styles itself to be upbeat but you know is doomed to fail. Like Flanders' Leftorium.

That's the one. I like how they've gone through all the effort into making the render and associated fake brand, but left an O2 ad in the window (and a reflection containing the Timberland logo in it)

To be fair you would do the same if Mel B was your sister - borrow money rather than bake cup cakes - on second thoughts she doesn't bake cup cakes ether.

Dear Lord, I thought that article was an April Fools Day wind-up when I read it. It could almost have been an outline for one of those yummy mummy sketches Catherine Tait used to do ("Run children, the eggs aren't organic!").

I have to say though, I admired Miss Brown's bravery and dedication in bringing up little Hendrix and Mimi without the help of a nanny. How does she manage?

Someone I know did some work experience at YTV in the late '90s. Danielle Brown was an 'actress' on Emmerdale in those days and apparently she had to do a take in which she responded to the question, "still or sparkling? (water)". Apparently, it took her about ten takes to say one word and in the end it sounded like "Sp-aiiiir-kling". This has since become a catchphrase.

Joy in The Light has now closed: http://instagram.com/p/ZjEyZVpLpI/ All the stock has been moved down to Albion Street, grand opening of their new unit is on the 31st of May.
