Memories came Alive looking at these pics! I was here last year and what an experience!! I was transported to the totally different royal world of the kings and queens. Love the royal touch that Rajasthan offers in its forts, palaces and the heritage hotels. Its time that just like the foreign tourists, we too, as domestic travelers and tourists start appreciating the Indian heritage and rich cultural offerings. Cant wait to visit Jaipur again! Thanks for the pictures.

Jaipur to host 2013 Global Spa & Wellness Summit
Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 12:00 Hrs [IST]
By HBI Staff | New Delhi Global Spa & Wellness Summit (GSWS), an international organisation that brings together leaders and visionaries to shape the future of the global spa and wellness industries, will travel to India next year to hold their seventh edition in Jaipur from October 4-7. It is for the first time that India will be the host country for GSWS. The Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Government of India will be the Titanium partner for the summit. Although MoT had bid for the conference a few months back, the destination and dates were finalised recently. The venue and theme for the summit are, however, yet to be decided. MoT is expecting around 400 international delegates from over 40 countries to attend this by-invitation-only global summit. The delegates and participants would comprise CEOs and representatives from diverse sectors, such as hospitality, finance, architecture and real estate, medicine, manufacturing, technology, consultancy and other related industries, informed an official from the government. Max Healthcare will do the ground-level facilitation for the conference, the official informed. In an official release, Susie Ellis, Chairman and CEO, GSWS, said, “It is very significant that we will be meeting in India where the government has taken a worldwide leadership role by identifying wellness and Wellness Tourism as important contributors to a nation’s economy.” Ellis noted that India, as the birthplace of yoga, meditation and Ayurveda, has played a profound role in the development of spa and wellness worldwide, and that this country is an ideal location to explore those historic roots, and, at the same time, address new markets and new revenue opportunities around the globe. This is the second time after its inception that GSWS is holding its annual summit in Asia. The first Asian country to host the summit was Indonesia, in which Bali was the venue for the fifth annual summit in 2011. After holding the first two summit meetings in New York in 2007 and 2008, GSWS had travelled to Interlaken, Switzerland (2009); Istanbul, Turkey (2010), Bali, Indonesia (2011); and Aspen, Colorado (2012). |

Dusit Bird Hotels to launch Dusit Devarana, New Delhi by end 2012
By P Krishna Kumar | New Delhi
Dusit Bird Hotels, the Joint Venture (JV) between Dusit International of Thailand and Bird Group of India, is set to launch their first luxury retreat, Dusit Devarana, New Delhi by end of this year. This urban setting luxury resort, a 50-key property is spread over three hectares with 1000 matured trees and 102-metre long swimming pool. It will house the Dusit Group’s signature Devarana Spa with reflection pools. Among other facilities, the resort will also have two restaurants, bar lounge and library, conference facilities, etc. Speaking about the debut project of the JV in India, Sunil Mathur, Regional Vice President, Dusit Bird Hotels said that Dusit Devarana will ‘stand out’ not only for its unique architectural designs, but also for its ‘high level of genuine Asian hospitality’. “In a crowded market place like Delhi where there is hardly any ‘differentiator’ in terms of product design or offerings, Dusit Devarana will stand out for its world class design and genuine caring service,” he said. Because of its unique location on National Highway 8, hardly ten minutes drive from the Delhi international airport, the hotel will cater to hi-end luxury travellers as well as corporate clientele, he added. Followed by Dusit Devarana, the group is expecting to launch its second hotel, Dusit D2, by mid next year. The 200-room Dusit D2 is nearing completion in the aero city in New Delhi. “Even in the aero city, we enjoy a prime location. We are hopeful of launching it towards the middle of 2013,” Mathur said. A business and leisure brand, Dusit D2 has a strong style and design element to address the younger audience, he informed. Commenting on their growth plans, Mathur said that the group has a ‘planned growth’ strategy in the Indian market. “We are committed to a strong presence in India in the next three to five years. The plan is to establish eight to ten hotels in five years time,” he added. While the JV company has three properties in the pipeline – Dusit Devarana in Jaipur and Rishikesh, and Dusit Thani in Goa, they would scout for management contracts for all Dusit brands in India. “We are actively pursuing operating contracts across the country. We had negotiations with few owners already,” Mathur said. When asked about the Dusit brands which could drive future growth in India, Mathur said that Dusit D2 and Dusit Princess have lot of scope in Indian conditions. “Dusit Princess is a four-star brand which works beautifully in Tier-I and II cities and can also become part of mix-use development in big cities and emerging metros. The name Princess shows the richness of the brand,” he explained. |

By HBI Staff | Mumbai France-based Relais & Chateaux, which manages 500 hotels and gourmet restaurants in sixty countries, is planning to add three properties to the existing six in India."The first Indian property that joined Relais & Chateaux was in 2008, and now in 2012, we have a total of six properties in the country and one in Sri Lanka. The Indian luxury travellers take multiple trips throughout the year and also look out for ‘value-for-money’ deals, she notes. Globally, the company employs approximately 22,000 people in 518 properties in 60 countries. In the Indian sub-continent, including Sri Lanka, it employs around 300 employees in seven properties. |
