Downhill is far worse, because if you aren't allowed to pass a slower descending truck, you need to gear down, and if you **** that up it won't be fun times.

Maybe if you've got three lanes, but otherwise car drivers need to look ahead and get over it.
I'm talking about 3 lane scenarios. Like the M1 in Melbourne which restricts trucks from the fast lane.

10 minutes driving on the Gateway in Brisbane and you would agree.

You know, lane selection is so poor in Melbourne it doesn't matter where the trucks are.

The Tullamarine Freeway is a 4x4 lane that operates as though the outer two lanes were closed.

Heavy ascents/descents are dangerous enough for trucks as it is - restricting lane access does not help that.

If you were to restrict one lane in a 3x3, it would definitely be advisable not to enforce by camera, as that has the potential to increase risks.

This is east of Adelaide, but since I can't find more precise subject name:

Paul Rands' Expressway website:
http://expressway.paulrands.com/gall...eratonuriootpa

Mentions that in 1998 on the Sturt Highway, 'completion of the Mickens Bridge to Truro realignment (an 8 km alignment and bridge, north of the old carriageway'.

Which side of Truro is this and what is a nearby cross road? I have had a detailed look on google maps and can find no evidence of this.

The times for your current road and adjacent routes are displayed on the variable messaging signs to help you compare and assess different journey options.

Announcement on the Northern Connector is imminent

Quote:
PM flags support for SA road project
3 HOURS AGO AUGUST 14, 2015 8:26PM
http://www.news.com.au/national/brea...-1227484216177

PRIME Minister Tony Abbott has flagged an imminent announcement on federal support for Adelaide's northern-connector road project.

THE 15-kilometre road will provide better access for freight through Adelaide's northern suburbs and is a key part of a north-south express corridor through the city.

Mr Abbott says the commonwealth regards the connector an important project and talks are continuing with the South Australian government.

"My understanding is just about everyone in South Australia wants it to crack on as quickly as possible," he said during a visit to Adelaide on Friday.

"I hope to have more to say about this in the near future."
A reminder..
Please note, the salt pans and other coastal land is earmarked for future major development.

Meanwhile site works have commenced on the $900m T2T project along South Road and planning underway for the Darlington Interchange.

Port Wakefield

This is interesting:

Suggestion of a 25km detour so as to avoid a traffic jam.

Bypass of Port Wakefield is overdue.

Adelaide city centre traffic light 'conspiracy'

This could be so many cities all over Australia and the world:

http://indaily.com.au/news/2016/04/1...ights-rethink/

Huge problem in Queensland with TMR controlled signals.

Interesting mention that James Congdon Drive is being duplicated.

A rather interesting way manoeuvre bridges into place is happening in Adelaide.

Massive bridges built next to Darlington Upgrade Project in Adelaide
Updated Sun 16 July at 2:29pm, ABC Online
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-1...roject/8713162

It is clearer when watching the video as well at: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-07-1...uction/8713200

Quote:
Two 3,000-tonne bridges will be built off the side of the Darlington Upgrade Project in Adelaide and moved into place to avoid traffic disruptions. Construction on the 180-metre-long bridges has begun between the Southern Expressway and Main South Road, near Marion Road. The bridges, which will be moved into place over two weekends in October and November, are part of the $620 million North-South Corridor project.

Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan said moving the bridges into place would be an Australian first for a civil construction project. "Today what we are seeing is massive beams starting to come on site from a South Australian company, Bowhill Engineering," Mr Mullighan said. "They will be constructed into two 3,000-tonne bridges which will be moved into place via those small automated crawling trailers. "There's a massive reduction in how much we disrupt traffic as we are building these bridges and as we move them into place." He said nearly 70,000 vehicles a day use the road, the busiest section of South Road.

When complete, the Main South Road bridges will take northbound traffic over the Southern Expressway. A total of eight bridges will be built for the Darlington Upgrade Project, which is now expected to be completed in 2019.

Meanwhile on the other end of the north-south corridor, the T2T project (pics below) and the six-lane Northern Expressway Extension is progressing well.

Nearmap was recently updated. Here is the essential material:

1. Manton Street/Grange Road bridge. Looking east, towards the CBD.

2. As above, but zoomed out slightly and looking west. Note the rise and fall of the trench.

3. Work on widening the Taylor Bridge (the one over the Torrens).
