The road works have now finished with all of the works equipment removed from the site.
Here you can make out he site for the new student halls. As far as I can work out the new building(s) should run from the white building on the right all the way along the area behind the fencing with the red and white stripe on it.
Looks like CDP are involved, who did the restoration of 'New Buildings', the conversion of Electric Wharf and the rest of FarGo/Far Gosford Street. They also did the original design for Millennium Point, which was good.
Do you mean Millennium View? This was the original proposal from CDP:
...then we had:
....now we have a 'pocket park'. I'd rather they just put hoardings up - at least that suggests the site is due to be developed. At the moment a visitor might be mistaken in thinking that it is meant to look that shit.
I liked the original a lot, although I felt it looked odd compared to the other side of the street.
They had it surrounded by hoardings for years. They had problems, needed security and people claimed it looked unsightly. That's why the pocket park was put in. The back of the buildings look rough but I prefer the greenery until work actually starts. Plus it has a very small but beneficial impact on meeting environmental factors and legislation. Personally I'd prefer the boarded up site behind the Belgrade to be greened over temporarily if they're not doing anything with it.
There's that patch of land in the centre of Bradford thats been undeveloped for over a decade and it looks such a mess. Greening the site over would make the place look a lot tidier IMO.
I believe these were going to be demolished and replaced with something that looks similar to what was there before they were built. I think they were both added sometimes in the early 20th century on the site of w timber-framed building.
There is also a decorating centre behind and NCP car park next door.
