Pay for a project of a small house, get the material, hire some workers and get it build. And now do this for a 818 m tall skyscraper.

Yes, the cost of interiors is not small, but compared to the cost of the whole project it is not that big it should threaten it's completion...

Not to mention its all bought in bulk, from the manufacturer, so savings are usually 30-50% wholesale. Its not like the owners of the burj are having to go to home depot for supplies, and west elm for furniture, they aren't buying anything retail.

Just go to a furniture store and buy a complete set of furniture for just one room. And hire some workers to put some hangings on the walls, and let them to the floor etc. I guess it will be a considerable investment for you. And now do this for hundred of rooms.
Do you have any idea how it works?

Do you really think that the building is currently a total empty shell inside? Do you really think that the developer will think now about the interiour work?

A little old pic of BD:

http://www.dubaichronicle.com/wp-con...rj-dubai-1.jpg

I am also positive for a new section above 500m; for the reasons mentioned above and (in fact) the world changes a lot day by day, the technology around of developing/constructing changes with new methods, materials, etc. Dont forget that all-ready 2 mega-talls are in plan (now are on hold) NHT tower in Dubai and Chicago Spire, and will be more in the near future

Not a net, just marking the safe-for-swiming zone where no other water sport is allowed.

The fountain is in sync with the music. COOL!
Still no evidence of the 150m water height. They could be saving that part for later, or scrubbed it altogether from the final design.

Both videos are great, especially the first; it is different to watch a pic of those fountains and different watching a video. To me first video (@UofM Dubai Student) is very nice... Not that the second is bad, not at all

I got whinged at for posting a bunch of fountain vids earlier in the thread. Recent ones have only been posted in the Downtown Burj Dubai thread. For those who haven't seen them, just pop on over to YouTube (be sure to watch them in HD). There's about 20 different videos taken over the last month.
