1 Jul – Favourite Bollywood film hotspot TGV CapSquare at PIKOM ICT Mall CapSquare along Jalan Munshi Abdullah in Kuala Lumpur closes today, 1 July 2013, after operating for close to six years.

Plans to close down the 6-screen cineplex owned by TGV Cinemas was first made public in early 2011, but the project was delayed up to now due to unforeseen circumstances that according to sources, involved mainly leasing and renovation negotiations for the mall which first went by the name of Capital Square Mall when it opened in 2007.

The closure is planned to make way for a full IT mall owned by PIKOM (Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry, Malaysia).
As of now, the older tenants have moved out or are in the midst of running clearance sales, while IT retailers are fast in moving in.

With regards to the moviegoers who are sad to see the cineplex go, TGV Public Relations Manager, Regina Robin told Cinema Online, "It's not that we want to close the cinema, but we have no choice as it is the new mall management's decision and so we have to leave".
IT retailers can survive there???

PIKOM itself is setting up its HQ at Empire Damansara. What a joke!

If they offer enough varieties, with mixed restaurants and arcades. Include abit of Japanese manga Gadgets outlet, IT main retailer like best Denki and courts. Some high end sound system, camera shops... It might...

Yes, according to FocusM this week, Jakel has bought over the entire mall and the proposed future north/south lowrise office tower.

Jakel, a famous wholesaler of cloth and Malay clothing, plans to convert the entire mall into a departmental store.

it's underway but at turtle speed. i was looking back at the older post to realized how little change has the surrounding been over the last 10 years. the refurbishment makes the street looks deserted and scary at night. I'm hoping so much that the mall will open soon.

by the way, 6 capsquare design is looking darn good; the contractor workmanship is however questionable.
