Walked down Goldsmith Avenue this evening and notice at the fratton station end the signs have appeared that the pavement will be blocked. Further to this, the businesses have relocated from the west of Fratton Station entrance. Obviously the demolition will commence to begin the housing development (on page 26 of this thread).

Thats good news, more housing (and in pretty good quality from the design proposals) that will make the entrance to Fratton station a little more attractive. Also this bodes in well with the Conan Canal scheme.

Was only thinking when this development would get off the ground (literally). Will tie the area together a lot more, although losing local businesses.

Really interested in the Conan Canal scheme, something the city needs is a cultural project that connects different aspects across the city together.

Hi, excuse my lack of knowledge regarding the area or the whole project, I really don't understand what you mean by "a cultural project". I think I'm missing out because that sounds promising and very interesting and I have no clue what is happening! Thank you

Exciting illustrations about how the fields area can be used

I found this which shows what can be there instead of the area that is filled with sports fields next to Gunwharf.

I always wonder how they keep those fittings containers there. I wouldn't want to walk to the back!!

Some early indication of the scale of plans for the Gosport bus station site:

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/pol...ront-1-8154721

It'll have to be tall to fit 95 residential units on that site

The residents of Hammond Court and I assume Blake Court are not happy about the scale of this development. I live in Hammond Court and my partner and I have spectacular views over the Harbour, the plans have taken into account Harbour Tower and Seaview Tower but our blocks are not even mentioned and how it will affect the block, some of the residents are lease holders and bought their flats with the views in mind, but will get to see a glass concrete and steel tower instead.

To get that level of flats the building is going to be at least 15 stories of flats and that is above the replacement bus station and the Retail outlets and offices that are planned for above it. The land between Harbour tower and Hammond Court is owned by Hyde but the plans show a road going through it, it is currently a nice bit of green space. Parking can already be a nightmare so what are they going to do about it there is talk of underground parking under the bus station and the removal of some short stay parking

What will Hampshire Fire Brigade have to say about all this in light of the Grenfell Tower disaster, they have already banned parking in the car ports under Harbour and Seaview towers as they consider the parking a potential fire risk.

You can guarantee thisse 95 properties are unlikely to be social housing.

I am not anti the site being redeveloped but think this scheme is far to big for the site 4 - 5 stories should be the maximum. I understand the wish to redevelop the waterfront, but who is this aimed at it does not really appear to be for the locals but more for those using the two marinas and tourists..
