shoking

If that really is Bukhungu stadium, it is such a let down. To my other point, our so called sports leaders lack vision...Gor and Leopards, big clubs with enough fans to already own stadiums and competing with the best in Africa for the best talent.
Problem is people who keep saying it is the government's fault are not any better. Look at the prominent fans of Gor and Leopards, they have been involved in politics for decades and all they keep doing is complaining about lack of governmental support for lack of development. These same guys, we all know who they are, have gotten richer in the last 3 decades so they can complain all they want, they have no track record to speak of.
The government has not helped but these folks will do nothing because they have done nothing in the past.

Exactly, Gor and Afc have been dominant since the 70's when you could get a decent land within the city yet all along their training grounds have been city and nyayo stadiums, lack of vision

not amazing at all..really more of a disgrace considering funds spent.

politics and the state of our infrustructure

Let's just ignore reality and say that the stadiums will be ready for CHAN...keep going...then lets look forward to future political campaigns, we will see Kinyatta and Raila or whoever Raila is running against using the new stadiums to campaign and destroying the new tuff...Kenya has really no rules.
You know you need permission to step on the turf at Arsenals stadium..no lie I went there and no one who does not need to step on the turf would ever be allowed to do so.
Another very important point..the reason most stadiums for football do not have a track is because athletics has field events that really impact the turf so at some point, we will have to go with football only stadiums and multiuse if we want to improve football standards.

@ Mwalimu, talking about football standards in Kenya is one point, but another important one is: how to we get people to the stadiums to attend? we might use all those funds, but what are the strategies put in place by the ministry to sensitize people to attend matches.

Remember a while back few people used to attend rugby games, then EABL took up sponsorship of sevens, and everyone was thronging to Ngong Road, and i bet you half the crowd dont even know the rules of the game, but hey its revenue through ticket sales.

Its all about fan experience a sport event at a stadium has to be sold like any other event. The experience has to be worth it- people have to be convinced that it is better to watch it live than on tv. The organizers have to market that special factor and the stadiums will slowly but steadily fill up.
