Thanks Mulatto. Last chance to add your support to the planning application people. If you look through the current planning ap docs there are 10X more objections than support. Don't let the NIMBYs win!!

quite struck by these plans. I'm intrigued by the brick roof. Can that be?

I still don't think I'd want to live in the middle of the wandsworth one-way system though, but they do well to make the most of the natural feature (the wandle I think. Nice to see a bit of it without shopping trolleys sticking out, like you see near savacentre)

Agreed. Would be great if you can add your support to the planning application. There are so many objections at present.

I went along to the open day and added my support there but never did so on the council site, which looks to be a mistake if there are that many objections... is it all down to the height of the tower? The brewery needs to be redeveloped ASAP I don't understand why anyone would object other than for that one issue. Would make such a difference to the whole area.... fingers crossed it gets the go ahead.

Ye, I agree Muppet Thumper, I can't see any reason for objecting... This is a great plan for what is a large derelict site, right in the middle of the town centre. Does anyone know the deadline for the decision? Work is due to begin in August, so it would be before then.

This helps you to see where The Ram Brewery is compared to other developments:

So what??! How can that be considered a serious objection to this proposal??

Actually, according to the letter (I trust I have not misread it) EH are NOT objecting to the 35 storey tower, they are objecting to some 12 storey blocks which they consider should be 8 stories high so they don't overscale a row of historic buildings on Church Row. In fact the review is OK about the tower. See conclusion extract below:

Urban design: The principle of a tall building is supported. Some further work is required regarding scale of the spine blocks and impacts on Church Row.

Personnally, the earlier two thinner tubular towers looked more interesting than the single larger boy building now proposed, but that's just my opinion.

@Black cat, you're right but they're still objecting, which might slow things down md cause objections.

I find it very interesting that the issues from an EH perspective is not the 35 storey high rise residential building all high rise issues appear to be resolved - no minor achievement for this location and is precedent setting for this part of the Borough. The only outstanding issues relate to some mid rise buildings, and frankly one doubts that this is a make or break for the overall scheme. This should be straight forward to resolve with some relatively minor amendments - this happens all the time in planning.

Approved!

Councillors approve huge Ram Brewery development for Wandsworth Town

A huge development including a 36 storey tower was approved by councillors last night. The Ram Brewery development in Wandsworth Town will create 661 new homes, shops and leisure facilities on the site of a derelict brewery. Wandsworth Council's planning committee approved the planning application during a planning meeting last night.

cool!

well that's timely for me as I took some 'before' photos of the site yesterday, but decided not post them as it would bump the thread and people would be annoyed thinking there was news when there's no news... but now there is news!

so

proposed wandle:
