Crash2010, very nice ...but don´t laugh at me now ....it´s funny how psychology works, at first glance I read 42F x 4...I was already going like "waaaaw" ...after looking at it for a second time before opening the thread, I realized that it was just 42 x 4F!

Anyway, it´s realy looking appealing!

No, I am still digesting. No, no just joking but I am really hoping to see some African cities to turn into places like these: what I admire about Asia is their unquenchable thirst for the best , for high quality and large-scale projects, often out of "nowhere" places!!

its beautifull..nice balace of man made and natue (even though man made itself)

we as a continent still have a long way to go...
it is the way we think and the way we do things, right now i feel we are playing catch up and trying soo hard to make money for all the lost time but it is usually at the expense of product service, quality and excellence.

but that being said we have alot of room to grow and slowly the momentum will grow and we will see more stuff like angola/mozambique/southa africa throughout the entire continent.

you know before i joined ssc, i had always had an interest i whats going on in the continent and it nice to see all these different 'sites' coming up. . . my curiosity is constantly being satified DAILY

i feel we lack a lot of design flare though, its pretty but we can do better that that.
the asian countries have mastered the metropole beacuse thay have used their lack of space as their driving force in design and execusion...

we need to harness our talents architects/engineers/ developers to ensure we bring something to the world, something that will make their jaws drop....i just dont know what that will be.. ( corimba coast in angola is an excellent example)

nevermind what you have heard but durban is the hub of such small scale development that i think could bring a smile to your face.

one os such is bridge city.. a mixed use are in the middle of a 3 township, that showed me that people are seeing development opportunies is areas that were one seen as usavoury...

they are attemting to build a tiny city.... its going to be beautiful.

check out

i hope this works out ( i am techno disabled)
or

www.bridgecityshoppingcentre.co.za

in a couple of years durban will have gone through a major makeover, and i hope to see that in many more african cities....

.

Lack of what ??? do you really mean "space"? maybe for Singapore or Japan but not for countries like Thailand, Malaysia , Indonesia...not to speak of China

As far as African design, it most do a lot lot better (but Angola has some pretty nice projects coming up but I would love to see all this twenty fold or even more than that)

just for entertainment

Luanda needs a new financial district with highrises (50 towers above twenty floors in one area): 8 top-notch universities and a dozen academies, 20 very good hospitals, 2 theme parks, a mega cultural centre: very big and imposing, dozens of theaters and art galleries and at least 20 shopping malls, 5 casinos (Las vegas style) (one giga mall with more than 1000 shops with all kinds of brands: local and foreign with the best of interior design avaible, enclosed with some kind of fun park and olympic sized- ice skating rink), marinas, an endless maze of bars , clubs and discos (the more the better)

Luanda needs 2 six star hotels, 10 five star hotels, 25 four and three star star hotels. It needs nice pensions for rucksack travellers that want to visit this beautiful country.

...but I am sure many of these thing will appear in Luanda in the next years to come...it has already started.

Same for all the provinces to make development decentralized! (on a smaller scale of course)

THE FACE OF UGLY POVERTY AND UNDERDEVELOPMENT HAS TO BE ERASED FROM AFRICA; ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!! I AM SICK OF IT!!
