That mechanical thing on top of the Foster Tower is a disgrace.
The Trump Tower is as shiny and cold as (georgeous) Ivanka.
Seems like the Bloomberg Tower has a new powerful "nuclear"lighting..
Citicorp DESERVES a reclad.
...432 makes me...HAPPY!!!

Giant suction cup contraption dangling from the roof right now - I'm guessing it's a window replacement gizmo...?

Click pics for full size:

those open floors are amazing, open to the elements like that, and great viewing decks if you have access.

They are open to keep the building stable under wind loads, yes?

Or do they also serve some mechanical function? I'd love to see inside that tube around the core. Any pics?

The top of the building should have been built with 4 foot tall solar panels to make it a full 1400 feet tall :-)

It is not exactly that they keep the building stable, but they do reduce wind loads and wind vortexs, reducing the stress on the structure (what keeps the building stable is the structure of the building itself)
Also, yes, there are some mechanical equipment there, but I don't have pictures and I don't remember seeing pictures inside the drums.

Some pictures taken from the Central Park Tower thread. In the first one, there is one of the best angles, so the distortion of perspective reduced and you can see how the height compares to the ESB.

685 First Avenue. It will eventually be blocked when the lot across it gets developed.

The area around the UN in midtown East has some stunning architecture in the development pipeline. Here's two examples:

821 UN Plaza

303 E 44th

Thanks.

I wondered about that green area. Looked like a park.

It would be the perfect place for a waterfront park if not for the FDR. Other than the Western Railyard, its Manhattan's most prime real estate for development.

As the crow flies, the Statue of Liberty to ESB is 8kms. To 432 Park Ave. is another 2kms. So that shot length encompasses at least 10kms, in stunning depth.

But it's better than that because the shot must have been made from south of Liberty Island, either in Bayonne or Staten Island which would add 3-5kms more.

Fantastic.

Yeah it's probably a render, but a very nice image though! It looks real enough. ..I just wanted to spice up the thread a bit. I miss 432 Park Ave daily updates...
