Paramount Airways eyes Boeing-787 jets

Boeing team makes presentation

CHENNAI: Chennai-based Paramount Airways, which has placed orders for eight Embraer jets, is also looking at the new generation Boeing-787 jetliners to meet its long-haul requirements.

M. Thiagarajan, Managing Director of the airline, said here on Wednesday that the Boeing-787 jets, in addition to catering for the long-haul domestic sectors of the airline, would help meet its plans to go international after completing five years of operations. He made these remarks after a six-member Boeing Commercial Airplanes team, led by Vivek Lall, Managing Director, Boeing India Commercial Airplanes, and Arun Desai, Director, International Marketing and Sales, made a presentation. The team also made a presentation on Boeing 737, an executive version offering 80-130 seats.
Paramount Airways has plans to link "non-metro routes with metros in business class comfort". The Boeing officials said they were here to meet several new entrants in the civil aviation sector.

I think you missed the purpose of this thread. It is to track concrete orders from airlines, not their plans. Perhaps when the order is placed and announced by respective companies and reliable media, then you can post it again here.

Superjumbo that takes you into space
From yesterday’s first passenger flight, it was clear that the only thing that there will definitely be more of on the A380 is seats. There were 519 on our aircraft, but the A380 is certified to carry 853 passengers and stretched versions will have room for almost 1,000.

Mallya in $7 bn Airbus plane deal

MUMBAI, JUNE 20: Kingfisher Airlines on Wednesday announced a preliminary USD 7.2 billion deal to buy Airbus aircraft including an extra 15 A350-800 XWB jets worth $3 billion.
The order also includes five four-engine A340-500 planes, 10 A330-200 wide-body models and 20 single-aisle A320-family jets.
India USA United Kingdom UAE Canada Australia Pakistan Saudi Arabia Kuwait South Africa

The order is worth a total of USD 7.2 billion at list prices.

Kingfisher had already ordered 5 of the original version of the A350 and has upgraded these orders to the planemaker's redesigned A350 XWB model. The new order for 15 A350 XWBs brings the total commitment for the aircraft to 20.

Airbus redesigned the A350 last year to boost flagging sales, dubbing its new version the Xtra Wide Body or XWB.

hey guyz, why is that A320 dominates the order book all airlines from india?

though boeing leads slightly in widebody order, but in medium to short haul aircraft, Airbus dominates.

Indian, Kingfisher, Air deccan, Indigo all have order large no. of A320s. But its only Jetairways which has made the big order for 737.

Jet Airways orders three Boeing 777s

Jet Airways, India's largest private airline, has exercised options to buy three extended-range 777 jetliners, the companies said Wednesday.

The latest order is worth more than $790 million at list prices, the companies said, though airlines typically negotiate steep discounts. The order adds to an order Jet Airways placed two years ago for 10 777-300ERs.

Jet Airways took delivery of its first 777-300ER in April. The planes will "play a pivotal role in our long-haul growth strategy, and will play a pivotal role as we expand our international operations," Naresh Goyal, the airline's chairman, said in a statement.

India's Jet Airways orders 20 single-aisle Boeing 737-800 jets
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/business/20071016-1346-boeing-jetairways.html
SEATTLE – Jet Airways, India's largest private airline, has ordered 20 single-aisle 737-800 jets, Boeing Co. said Tuesday.

The deal is worth $1.5 billion at list prices, Boeing said, though customers typically negotiate steep discounts.

The short- to medium-range 737 is Boeing's best-selling airplane.

The Chicago-based company, which assembles its commercial planes in the Seattle area, said the 737-800 is the most popular of its so-called “next-generation” models, which begin with the 737-600 series and seat between 110 and 180 passengers in two classes.

As of Sept. 30, Boeing said it had unfilled orders of nearly 1,800 737s worth more than $125 billion at list prices.

Mumbai-based Jet Airways, which launched service in 1993, already has 50 Boeing 737s in its fleet. It offers about 340 daily flights to 53 destinations in India and international markets including the Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, the United States, Canada, Belgium, and the United Kingdom.

In August, Jet Airways exercised options to buy three of Boeing's extended-range 777s, which sell for $790 at list prices, adding to an order it placed two years ago for 10 777-300ERs.

In January, it agreed to buy 10 of Boeing's new midsize, long-haul 787s.

Last week, Boeing announced it was delaying the first delivery of the 787 six months until November or December 2008 because of problems encountered assembling the first plane. Jet Airways is scheduled to receive its 787s, valued at $1.5 billion at list prices, between July 2011 and December 2012.

Separately, Boeing said that Guggenheim Aviation Partner Fund II had exercised options to purchase three 777 freighters, valued at approximately $750 million at list prices. The deal earlier had been attributed by Boeing to an unidentified customer.

Air India plans acquiring up to 100 aircraft

Ashwini Phadnis

New Delhi, Nov 6 Air India could look at acquiring up to 100 aircraft for meeting its requirements for a five-year period beginning 2011. A clear picture on the exact numbers is likely to emerge in the next few days after a review meeting of the fleet requirement is completed here on Wednesday.

The National Aviation Company of India (NACIL), the company into which Air India and Indian have been amalgamated, is assuming a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 12 per cent in international traffic and 15 per cent in the domestic traffic as forecast for meeting its fleet requirement, sources told Business Line.

The aircraft requirement are being considered keeping in mind not only the growth in the domestic and international markets but also sixth freedom operations rights that have been given to Air India.

The sixth freedom rights allow an airline to pick passengers from a country other than its origin and carry them to a third country.

The airline is working on the assumption that the induction of these aircraft would help garner a market share of 30 per cent in the international traffic to and from India from the present 24 per cent and a 35 per cent market share in the domestic skies which it hopes to achieve by 2020-21 apart from 25-30 per cent market share of the cargo market, sources said.

The induction of the aircraft could see the airline more than double the weekly frequency of international flights from the current 600 flights to more than 1,200 by 2016-17.

At the moment it seems that the order for aircraft would be placed in such a manner that it is distributed between the European consortium Airbus Industrie and the US manufacturer Boeing, sources said.
