Was I against any terminal or pitline in Kannur? can you quote any of my posts in this regard?? I was saying Kozhikode can itself fill some trains , and let those trains start from Kozhikode itself- not all. For those trains you dont need to run all the way from Kannur just to start a train from Kozhikode to any other place. That is a wastage of resources (Note the point am not saying all and every train starting from Kannur is a wastage of resource. . For example Eranakulam - to anywhere train . or Aleppey to anywher train does not need to come from Trivandrum. First of all, Kozhikode is not an ultra big city as Cochin or Trivandrum. Kozhikode is just bigger than Kannur. That's it. There are no good rly stations near by Kozhikode, so patronage is higher. Thalassey is very near to Kannur, that's why revenue is less comparing to Kozhikode.
Kozhikode - Kannur rail route is the most potential route in the whole Kerala.
Huge passengers are using Koyilandy, Vatakara, Thalassery and Kannur stations.
Serving these big population vs travelling additional 95 km is not a wastage of resources.

Railways will make sure there are only <100 A1 stations.
And 400-500 A category stations.
Lok sabha standing committee for Railways decides I guess.

A-1 grade was 50 crore which got increased to 60 crore.

There are 75 A1 stations which met the 60 crore standard few years ago.

Since then, AFAIK, no new revenue standard has been set. Also, RS which crossed 60 crore are still classified as A grade only.

Kannur and Ernakulam Town had 62 crore revenue in 2015 itself.
