Flying on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner
I had a chance to fly on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It's simply a phenomenal airplane!! From the second you step inside, you know you're on the first plane of the 21st century. The large entrance dome, the LED lighting, the carbon fiber, the large windows that dim with a push of a button, the remodeled storage bins that open 4 ways, the modern engines that reduced noise, fully-electronic controls, the huge fuel efficiency. This plane takes us into the next era of aviation.
This was a 7 hour flight from Everett, WA over Montana then going down the Oregon and California coast and then back up to Everett. This was the one of the last test flights before Boeing got certification for the 787.
This plane is for All Nippon Airways (ANA), the launch customer for the 787. This particular plane was the 9th one built and the second that will be delivered.
When I usually do 5 hour flights, I come out feeling fatigued, irritated, and tired. Even though this was a full flight that was 7 hours long, when I stepped out, I did not feel fatigued at all and definitely did not feel like I had been on a plane for 7 hours. This is probably due to the fact that the 787 has more cabin pressure than any other plane, which reduces jetlag.
Boeing has really gone all out to make this plane and it's a truly phenomenal product. I'm happy to have been a part of it!
