Vilupuram, Krishnagiri & Dharmapuri-projects and development

It is substantial to have a thread dedicated for the Northern districts namely vilupuram, krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts of Tamilnadu.

10,000 sacks of rice have arrived for sale in Chenji market

vilupuram, krishnagiri and Dharmapuri doesnt make any sense. There is not even geographical contiguity between them.

Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri,
Vellore and Thiruvannamalai,
Vilupuram and Cuddalore makes much more sense.

Composite salem district - Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri can be put in one thread. Infact that is what is followed now (Salem thread). So no need to create another thread.

North Tamilnadu thread should be Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Cuddalore - Erstwhile North and South Arcot - This thread can be renamed that way.

Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur districts are anyway half eaten by Chennai - They dont need seperate thread.

So this thread can be renamed --> North Tamilnadu - Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram and Cuddalore Project Development.

http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/...s/27111820.htm

Passenger train on Vellore-Villupuram line soon

Passenger train services will soon be introduced on the Villupuram-Vellore section, which was converted into broad gauge recently, said K J S Naidu, railway safety commissioner, south zone.

Naidu and his team inspected the 150-km stretch of the track for three days and upon completion on Saturday, expressed hope that train services on the track would be made possible as soon the technical problems were rectified. He, however, did not elaborate on when the decision would be taken but said that the track needed no more inspection.

After completion of the broad gauge conversion work, the first level safety inspection was conducted along the track last March. Some of the problems identified at that time were rectified and the next level of inspection was scheduled to be conducted in February, but was postponed by a week.

In how many places is thatha bringing up IT SEZ? Just to earn money from taxes he is doing it? Not at all improving the infrastructure. If infrastructure is improved, Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchi and Coimbatore alone will take TN to No 1 position in IT Revenues.

Dharmapuri turns least literate district in TN

According to the latest census figures, Ariyalur, Krishnagiri, Perambulur, Salem Cuddalore and Villupuram continue to be way behind in literacy rate, sex ratio and human index.

These backward districts have not witnessed any major growth in the population index over the last 10 years, but there is a marginal increase in literacy and population, according to the provisional details disclosed by census officials in the city on Friday.

Addressing a press conference here at Ripon Buildings, census commissioner Gopalakrishnan said that the Nilgiris was the only district that witnessed a decrease in the population from 7.62 lakh to 7.35 lakh.

The census officials attributed the reason for the decrease in population in Nilgiris due to migration of people to neighbouring areas and other cities.

Speaking about the literacy rate, Mr Gopalakrishnan said that similar to the previous census in 2001, the coastal districts including Kanyakumari, Chennai and Thoothukudi emerged as top districts with literacy rate as 92.1, 90.3 and 86.5 per cent respectively.

Dharmapuri was the district with least literacy rate of 64.7, followed by Ariyalur and Perambalur.

Prominent and densely populated districts like Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiurchy Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram recorded literacy rate above the state average of 80.3 per cent and the gender gap in literacy was 13.0 in Tamil Nadu. This ratio is better when compared with the national literacy rate of 16.7.

The accuracy of the census reports will be ascertained through a private firm as there are possibilities for two per cent error, but it will not show any major variation with the population trends across the state.

The statewide caste census will be separate exercise and is likely to commence by September and the religion was also enumerated in the just concluded census, Mr Gopalakrishnan said.

Jaya vows to tread the path shown by MGR

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday vowed to tread the path shown by AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran till the end to run the party as well as the government. “The glory of MGR would last until the planet earth lasts,” she said unveiling the leader’s life-size statue in front of Karimangalam bus stand in Dharmapuri district through video-conferencing facility.
Though the party cadre informed her that the statue of MGR at Karimangalam was in a dilapidated condition in 2009, the previous DMK regime did not give permission for installing the statue despite many requests. It was a privilege to unveil the statue when the party found by MGR is ruling the State, she said.
AIADMK functionaries and the party cadre gathered at Karimangalam thanked Jayalalithaa for installing the new statue of MGR at the same place.
