Really wish you had more of the tunnels, but those damn guards...

Imagine a Metro subway under the tunnels, too. Metro studied this not too long ago and it still hasn't been completely ruled out.

Thx dudes. Yeah, I went DT to get some tunnel photos because I had never really seen any posted before. Then I get down there and the security guards kept on stopping me. It was a drag man.

RGV, thanks for offering us one more excellent photo collection of Houston. Also, it was nice to see that you gave some exposure to the homeless people. Sometimes we tend to forget that big cities offer a huge contrast when it comes to the fortunate and the less fortunate (regardless of how they got there).

Very nice collection.

I'm also glad you got a couple of shots of Houston's tunnel system. A lot of people don't realize you can work in a office building and can walk to Macy's 8 blocks away and never take a single step outside. Dry Cleaners, Barbershops, a ton of restaurants, etc., can all be found in the Houston tunnel network.

Anyway, good job on the photos.

Downtown Houston looks pretty nice. The modern skyscrapers all look pretty good.

What are those tunnels used for?

Because Houston's summer's are so extreme, the tunnels are a climate controlled way to travel from building to building, go to lunch, run errands, etc., without having to deal with the weather elements. It may sound a little odd to some but walking as little as 2 blocks in summer in Houston, can leave your shirt wet.

That's what I thought, but I wasn't too sure. Basically it's like what they have in Minneapolis, except it's used in the Summer, not Winter.

Exactly. Which is a factor in why the downtown streets many times aren't as crowded as they probably could be.

Metro proposed a subway under the tunnel. It isn't completely ruled out I don't think.

Thx for all the comments fellas. I guess it's time to post these on the cityscapes section. Those guys are brutal, Houston always get pummelled or ignored there.

I guess it doesn't meet the exotic test.

Why were security guards stopping you at the tunnels? For taking pictures?
