Give your opinion all you want in the designated threads. Not here, you know the rules... oh wait your arguing you want urban planning to be implemented! yet you can't follow a simple rule on a virtual forum

pipolebnene, people check this thread.. like people check itunes basically, or beirutnightlife, or facebook.. idk but i know i do to see projects.. where they are, and where they became.. and when you come and post in over 20 threads some of your opinions.. people are sure not to appreciate it.. because they are expecting facts.. so calm down.. and unless you have some real information to bring to the thread.. please don't comment.. thank you..

Just to clarify for everyone, posting serious and well-thought out opinions on a particular project design IS permitted in this forum. It doesnt have to be a fact or an update. However, posting something like "cool", "thanks", "it's ugly", or "love it" is NOT allowed.

That being said, pipolebnene did suddenly show up posting several comments all at once, which although not against the rules, is not something most people would be fond of considering that the posts did not include any actual updates. So please just be aware of that for the future as it is very similar to "spamming".

Thanks Beiruti

For all i know opinions should be banned as well, unless its directly related to an update.

(...the future as it is very similar to "spamming".)

Waterfront City appoints ACC-MATTA s.a.r.l as the main contractor for the first Phase of the project estimated at 225 million dollars

The project will create 3,000 new construction jobs and 100s of permanent positions when completed

Waterfront City, the flagship project set to line the Dbayeh Seaside, announced the appointment of ACC-MATTA s.a.r.l, as the main contractor for the enlarged first phase of the project. At a construction cost of 225 million dollars, the first phase will create 3,000 new jobs in the construction sector and 100s of new permanent roles on completion.

The appointment for phase 1 of the project was made following an extensive and thorough evaluation and selection process, which involved 7 construction companies. The enlarged Phase 1 now incorporates an additional 3 buildings, bringing the total to 10 in line with strong customer demand.

This award ensures that the first Phase will now deliver the full Promenade experience, with residential, retail, restaurants, amenities and new public spaces. Handover of this phase will commence in early 2015.

The main contractor selection was made on the following criteria:

A full understanding of the high quality demands set by the developer
A commitment to the project timescales
The availability of an outstanding project team
An appreciation and commitment to the project’s high health & safety and environmental standards
A proven track record of delivery on projects of similar large scale and significance
Attractiveness of the commercial offer
Understanding of sustainable materials & practices

Mr. Samer Bissat, Senior Project Director at Waterfront City commented on the occasion: “Today is a proud moment for Waterfront City on two levels. Firstly, this appointment is for the full delivery of an extended Phase 1. Secondly, it is another substantial investment into the Lebanese economy both in terms of USD spent and job creation during construction and permanent roles on completion – this project marks the second investment in Lebanon made by Majid Al Futtaim Properties: The first being Beirut City Centre, which will be completed early next year and will create a further of 1,500 permanent jobs.”

The Contractor representatives at ACC-MATTA s.a.r.l, Eng. Maher Merhabi, Eng. Rene Matta and Mr. Fadi Matta commented on the appointment extending their thanks to the Waterfront City team and expressing their pride in working with the team and their commitment to being part of such an important and prestigious project.

Designed by SB Architects, Waterfront City is a luxurious mixed-use community development that will cover 250,000 square meters of land. The project is set to include a wider range of residential apartments, a large retail mall, two international hotels, a new office Business Park, public spaces and a distinct marina Promenade anchored by residential, shops and food & beverage outlets.

Waterfront City expanded
ACC Matta main contractor of first phase

Waterfront City, the major development lining the Dbayeh marina, has expanded its construction plan. The development increased its land area by 30 percent to 250,000 square meters.

The number of residential buildings in the project's first phase was raised to ten from seven previously, increasing the number of units to 348, up from 270. More than 70 percent of the first phase has already been sold, according to the company. The majority of buyers were Lebanese.

Waterfront City has recently appointed local construction company ACC Matta as the main contractor of the first phase. The cost of construction for this phase is estimated at $225 million. Local architecture firm Erga, consulting engineering company Barbanel, and DGJ Consulting will be supervising the works.

Construction has already started and the buildings will be delivered in early 2015, a one-year delay from its previous schedule. According to ACC Matta’s estimates, the first phase will create 3,000 new jobs in the construction sector. Besides residential buildings, works include 25 retail shops, a health club, food and beverage outlets, and green parks.

Waterfront City will unfold in four phases over an estimated 15 years. In all, the project will host 1,500 apartments. It will have a total built-up area of a little over two million square meters. Prices at the development start at $3,100 and $4,100 per square meter, depending on the location.

Waterfront City is a 50-50 joint venture between Beirut-based Société Joseph G. Khoury et Fils Holding, and Emirati developer Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Properties. MAF Properties is currently developing the City Center in Hazmieh, due to open in 2013.

I think Antelias-Dbayyeh will be its own mini-city in the near future, kinda like Jounieh is

Thanks, the "increased land area" confused me but I see what they mean now.

How boring. There are several talented studios in Lebanon that could've done a much better job with this project.
