Sultan Plaza Redevelopment Plan

Sultan Plaza's building management is in talk with developer to re-develop its current 9th story building.

About time they do that. It is a grossly under-utilized shopping centre.

It sits along Jalan Sultan Road, between North Bridge Road and Beach Road (near Concourse). It is accessible from Lavender MRT on one side and CCL Nicoll MRT on the other side. Being so accessible, it should have been better utilized instead of remaining dead with hardly any worthy shops and little patronage.

They should demolish along with Textile Centre and combine into a mega mall that can be a one-stop place for textiles and whatever DIY stuff which Concourse failed to do so. Or simply a shopping arcade with local and Malaysian delights, and basement to serve as a bus/coach interchange to Malaysia and Thailand etc.

I like the idea of a basement bus/coach interchange to Malaysia and Thailand. It should solve the hazardous alighting situation outside Golden Mile Complex. Just hope it won't end up as another Little Thailand.

actually i think its better for singapore to have something like the grand central station where most of the modes of transport congregate instead of cluttering here and there. ahhh....looking the the situation now..im afraid its too late. plus the tanjong pagar train station is not goin to move anytime soon.

They should upgrade the building or demolish and build a modern ultra high tech building. We do lack of a one stop Textile Centre. Since that area is in the vicinity of the arts and entertainment area. It will be filled with fashion students, artists and designers. What we lack of is a place like the the Fashion HQ areas of Milan or Soho in NYC, a one stop design, fabrics and textiles area.. fabricated from old warehouses or shops...A hgrand hotel would be interesting in that area. Something Grand and flashy...
