This is Amsterdam

Amsterdam Bibliotheek (open library). The largest public library in Europe.

Music from all over the world. Treasure chest of dance music.

'Mood' lighting room for multimedia pleasure. This is an environment where you listen to your music

Listening Studio. The view through the window is a panaromic perspective of Amsterdam. Music life is entrenched in this culture.

Old style records which plays CDs.

iMac

Seven storeys above, two storeys below.

Artist's Lounge. Art gallery showrooms...

The roof

I love the skylines! Especially the narrow terraces in the foreground of 2 and 3.

The library is kind of scary - it seems like the horrific logical limit of the whole iPod white thing. All the shots seem to have large areas of scarily bright whiteness, I feel like I'd go nuts in there.

Great pics Miliux.

I could imagine that library interior quickly becoming a period piece of this decade.

Awesome. Keep 'em coming.

Do you have any more of the building in the background of this pic?

It's called NEMO

It's a Powerhouse Museum equivelant (science fair museum)

Designed by Renzo Piano (the master ). The roof is actually just steps. You can go on top of the roof and sit on the steps. Great view from up there.

Awesome pics Miliux! I thought Amsterdam was my favourite European city, i really loved it. I also thought that the grey skies really suited the city... The red light district gets all the attention, however I think it's also one of the prettiest cities with all those canals.

So what you doing in Amsterdam? Studying?

It's more 'skin' than just the Kings Cross.

Prostitutes here are seen through red tinted glass in front of buildings without only the bikini and bra on. It's not just the red light district that has them. There are other parts of Amsterdam too! You can even see them with almost nothing on pacing up and down the district. I go through the Red Light District almost everyday to and from uni, because it's the smack bang in the centre of city.

In the Netherlands, prostitutes are recognised as a legal career. So you're entitled for social security and health.

to Fro: yeah, i'm here for study.

Tour: Home to Gym

Time: 14:59PM
Temperature: 8 degrees C

Map.

This is Aan 'Tij. Usually for students, but there are a lot of Dutch residents coming at night to get something to eat. Cheap beers, warm inside, boardgames, free wireless internet, decent foods. Good music round the clock. I live 4 meters from this building. Usually open my window wide enough to listen the tune while doing my work.

This is what student housing looks like. A reclaimed land from river, with levels of converted shipping containers. My building is not in this photo. I live closest to the sea.

Corner of Tasmanstraat (named after explorer Tasman) & Spaarndammerstraat. This is the main street on the way to centrum [city centre]. You can see Albert Hein on the right. My local grocery.

Closer look.

Going Southward on Spaarmdammerstraat

Husky nice and warm in hair salon.

Entrance of Westerpark

Naussauplein. Now going Eastward. It's a drawbridge.

Rail bridge North of Naussauplein.

Market @ Naussauplein

Haarlemmer-straat

Dog waiting for master in front of restaurant.

This is just a cafe. Not a coffeeshp. The one with caffeine.

Locals and their canine.

Prinsengracht. It's surreal looking at bikes going over those arch bridges.

Winery

Now that is a coffeeshop. I go pass at least 10 in this journey.

Another coffeeshop.

Some street scenes

Entrance of Niewendijk. It's like pedestrian shopping galore. All 1km of it. It runs down like a spine across Amsterdam city.

Kattengat. At last! A street without tourists.

Spuistraat

Typical brothels throughout Amsterdam. It's a similar theme with red curtain in the Red Light District. If the prostitutes are free, the window will be free without red curtain and they usually sit down on high stools or just dance wearing bra and underwear on.

Mosterpotsteeg

A lot of gay flags showing in Spuistraat. Retails and restaurants.

A bloke standing in front of a well covered record store. Usually good record stores are kept hidden and ambiguous like this.

The red building on the left is Magna Plaza...one of very few shopping mall. The yellow gate building is one of many uni building. Inside is my small uni gym.

I'll do a couple more as i have all classes this week. Maybe if i feel like it, take it in Red Light District (without prostitutes showing...sorry).
