A textile processing cluster, facilitated by MADITSSIA, is coming up near Kariyapatti in Virudhunagar district at a cost of Rs. 250 crore.

Southern districts textile processing cluster private limited, promoted by around 400 family-run textile manufacturers of Madurai, Sivaganga and Virudhunagar, will have 36 state-of-the art bleaching and dyeing units, at Pottakulam and Thamaraikulam villages, off Kariyapatti.

“These scattered units are now facing closure as Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has been issuing notices to them for polluting groundwater in the process of bleaching and dyeing. So, they need to move out and adopt better technology to run the show,” said MADITSSIA panel chairman for cluster development KR. Gnanasambandan.

The special purpose vehicle, formed for setting up the private industrial park, has bought 100 acres of land.

The State and the Centre have given the in-principle consent for the park under the Integrated Processing Development Scheme of the Union Ministry of Textiles.

This is the way how TN Govt and Politicians respect the Tamil. For them Tamil is a vote extracting Mantra only.

Anyone knows what construction is going on in the stretch between Fatima College - Samayanallur road. Its on the left when you travel from Fatima college. A huge area is covered and I don't have any idea about the project. (I forgot the exact location but its the only huge place where construction seems to be going on now in that stretch).

Also I saw Coffee day after Samayanallur (on the left side) and did not notice it this time. HAs it been closed? I saw one Coffee Day on right side of the road somewhere in that area.

I was googling for whats coming up in visalakshi campus. Then I found an article about bus stand is what going to come up in visalakshi school campus. This site is just after Fatima college, near to vilangudi railway station (is it functioning?).

http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper...cle6310772.ece

In this case, Vilangudi station should be upgraded and trains should be made to stop in this station. It can be made as a transit hub.

Amway’s Madurai plant to be commissioned soon

Amway, which is investing Rs. 550 crore at a manufacturing facility in Madurai, plans to commission the plant in the third quarter of this financial year.

Sujoy Bose, vice-president (south) of Amway India, said at the launch of Be Bright range of products here on Wednesday that the company registered over Rs. 2000 crore turnover last financial year.

Nearly 30 per cent of the business was from the south. In Tamil Nadu, sale of homecare and personal care products were high.

The new plant in Madurai will help Amway reduce its dependence on imports and contract packaging. “Tamil Nadu will become very important to us when the plant is commissioned,” he said.

The size of the market for skin care products in the country is estimated to be nearly Rs. 7,500 crore.

The new range of products will help Amway reach out to a larger number of customers, he said.
